It's really a lovely place to walk around when the weather is good and it's nice out. You could and should take a walk on the pier, grab a coffee or fish and chips at the beginning and an ice cream at the end of the pier when you sit on the benches or just the rocks overlooking the sea and keeping an eye out for some seals, which we've seen almost every time we went (!!) and the occasional dolphin packs if you're in luck and in season ;) Continue on the sea side further south, if it is a Sunday you simply must visit the local market at People's Park and continue to the long grassy promenade along the sea side all the way to the famous Forty Foot where you'll see the locals jumping in the freezing sea water for an awakening swim, even in the height of winter and the coldest of days! There are usually two guys selling warm coffee and tea from the back of their car on the street side which is also cool. On the way back you could grab the train from Glasthule (the next station south after Dun Laoghaire) or walk up to South George St. and find a nice place to sit in or do some shopping.
