Crai — Attraction in Cagliari

Falsely accused me of stealing while using the self-checkout.

I was finishing paying using self-checkout, but I had purchased a bottle of orange juice that didn’t have a SKU, and there was no way to look up the item. So I pressed the button to ask for assistance.

When the clerk came over, I tried to explain that I needed to enter the OJ in Italian, and she kinda chews me out because she needed to grab a booklet to find the SKU. Ok, fine whatever, as if I’m supposed to know that.

Then I explain I also accidentally added a shopping bag “borsa” and need to clear it out. Then she looks at the bag and snatches a bottle of water I purchased and clears my entire transaction. Then she makes me rescan the basket. It was at this point that I realized she was accusing me of stealing the water in Italian!

Now at this point I gave up on Italian and switched to English, but she kept right on going in Italian. She proceeds to rescan everything, and lo and behold, it’s the same exact item count as before. To top it all off, she starts walking away with the grocery bag that I brought myself until I stop her and grab it back from here.

I've been here three times over the course of a weeklong stay in town. On my last visit, the orange juice dispenser broke and part of the machine fell on me while I was trying to use it. The girl working the front counter was extremely rude and, not only did she not apologize, she gestured rudely twice for me to go away while the other staff attempted to fix it. As I waited for ~15 min and finished shopping, she did not notify me about the machine being fixed. While I understand that perhaps she can't communicate fluently in English, this is a supermarket in the heart of tourist central. At the very least, please be polite as that can still be communicated via body language. In data [1 giugno 2025], intorno alle ore 22:20, io e altre tre persone siamo entrati presso il supermercato CRAI situato in Piazza Yenne. Dopo un breve giro tra gli scaffali, ci siamo soffermati nel reparto dei dolciumi, dove ho preso in mano un pacchetto di biscotti mentre discutevamo quale tipo acquistare. Dopo aver deciso di comprare proprio quel pacchetto che avevo preso io, l'ho consegnato alla persona del gruppo incaricata al pagamento. Nel tragitto verso le casse, abbiamo incontrato un nostro amico, evento avvenuto esattamente alle ore 22:30. Posso confermare con certezza l’orario in quanto, in quel preciso momento, ho scritto a una mia amica comunicandole di essere alla CRAI e di aver incontrato il nostro amico in comune. La persona incaricata del pagamento si è diretta verso la cassa automatica situata sulla sinistra ,di fronte alla cassa tradizionale. Nel frattempo, noi tre ci siamo diretti verso l’uscita del supermercato per aspettarlo all’esterno del negozio. In quel momento, un dipendente del supermercato vestito in abito elegante con addosso un cartellino CRAI mi ha fermata, accusandomi con insistenza di aver sottratto il pacchetto di biscotti senza pagarlo. Nonostante gli abbia indicato il mio amico che stava effettuando il pagamento alla cassa, il dipendente ha continuato a sostenere che avessi nascosto il prodotto. Per dimostrare la mia innocenza, ho aperto la mia borsa e lui l’ha presa e ha mosso le cose all’interno per vedere se ci fossero i biscotti , non è emerso nulla. Non soddisfatto, mi ha accusata di aver nascosto i biscotti sotto la felpa, costringendomi a sollevarla per una perquisizione. Anche in questo caso, non è stato trovato nulla addosso a me. Solo a quel punto mi è stato permesso di uscire dal negozio. In quel momento ho pensato che tutto quello che il dipendente CRAI ha chiesto ed eseguito (controllo della borsa, controllo felpa e perquisizione) fosse nelle sue competenze. Raccontando tutto ai miei genitori chiamarono telefonicamente la CRAI di piazza Yenne per poter chiedere spiegazioni in merito. Gli è stato chiesto il numero di telefono dicendo che avrebbero richiamato. Cosa che non è mai avvenuta. Qualche giorno dopo richiamarono la CRAI i quali si giustificarono dicendo che dal controllo effettuato dalle telecamere non risultava quello da me su descritto. P E S S...
