Spending a summer abroad with ISI Florence has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life!!! This was my first time EVER in Europe, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin that journey than Florence. From the moment I arrived, the staff and professors made me feel welcomed and supported. They provided not only incredible learning opportunities but also helpful resources and activities that made the transition smoother than I expected. The courses at ISI were unlike anything I’ve taken before. They were engaging, hands-on, and taught by professors who genuinely care about your experience both in and out of the classroom. I had the chance to explore my interests through subjects that connected to the local culture, which made everything feel more meaningful. Living in Florence felt surreal. Waking up to views of the Arno, grabbing espresso on the way to class, and getting to explore historic streets and hidden spots I would have never found without just wandering. On weekends, I traveled throughout Italy and even beyond, creating memories I’ll hold onto forever. This experience taught me to embrace the unfamiliar, be more independent, and find beauty in the unexpected. I’m leaving with a deeper appreciation for other cultures, a lot more confidence, and friendships I’ll cherish long after this trip ends. I’m incredibly grateful to ISI Florence for making my first time in Europe so special. I truly couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my summer. Thank you for such an...

My study abroad experience has been one of the most exciting times of my life thus far! I've been able to see so many life-changing views, and meet so many unique and exciting people. This experience has installed a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the people, things, and opportunities in my life. I've seen almost all of Italy during my time here, and was able to deeply experience many aspects of the Italian culture and cuisine, from the Amalfi Coast and Rome, all the way to the Dolomites! Truthfully, I would not have been able to see so much without the guidance, support, and opportunities that ISI Florence offered during my program with them. While prioritizing academics first, ISI's academic schedule offers plenty of opportunities for students to explore the country on their own, as well as opportunities for guided experiences. Especially with classes running from Monday-Thursday. They offer optional day trips such as cooking classes, rafting on the Arno River, and much more, allowing us unique opportunities to make memories! The ISI staff and professors are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about Florence/Italy, as well as in their respective professional fields. They are all eager to help and give you recommendations that allow you to more authentically indulge in the Italian culture. I would highly recommend going to them if you ever need any travel/transportation help. I've had the time of my life, and want to thank ISI for providing the opportunity for me to...

ISI Florence will forever live in my heart and memories. It was this program that let me, the twenty year old American girl, to live out her dreams in Italy. From living in the center of Florence, opening my window each morning to a view of the Duomo, to taking in-depth cultural courses that let me explore the tastes, stories, and beauty of the city, it was everything I could imagine and so much more.

ISI gave me the opportunity to build a life abroad, establishing regular routines, attending classes, finding favorite spots, traveling on the weekends– all while calling Florence my home. They offered wide ranges of courses, to pick and choose what works for you and your interests, while requiring a course in Italian, to build real communication skills. Each and every class prioritized cultural connection, hands-on experience, and exploration with field trips to museums, nearby neighborhoods, food-tastings, etc. What made the program so special was how it encouraged personal discovery. Whether through identity-based courses, or simple conversations about life abroad, one felt challenged to grow into my own independent person.

ISI was more than just a study abroad program, it was a space to learn, to engage with the world in new ways, and to begin understanding who I am within it. It is an experience I would encourage everybody to pursue if they...

Studying abroad with ISI Florence was everything I hoped for and more. The classes offered were perfect to immerse you into Florentine culture and the professors are all wonderful. The entire staff at ISI is super helpful with all questions and concerns; they truly prioritize giving students the best experience and are very knowledgeable. They have assisted me with travel, recommendations, and mental health resources. Following several deaths in my family, the ISI staff was extremely understanding and created such a safe and welcoming space for me, which I will always be grateful for. The housing with ISI is amazing, often right in the city center, and the classrooms in Palazzo Bargagli offer a beautiful view of the Arno River. There are ISI planned trips like a gelato tour, rafting in the river, a wine tour, and so much more! Resources are readily available online and the communication with ISI is top notch- they are so quick to respond with helpful answers and I always felt safe knowing I had their emergency line in my back pocket. If I were to redo my study abroad experience again, I would do it with ISI Florence every single time. With the stress of a new country and new people, having a reliable resource like ISI was crucial. I strongly suggest anyone planning to study abroad to go with ISI Florence because you will not regret it!
