Brilliant hotel concept in a great surrounding area with the world's top retail and Italian-owned brands. The hotel space is filled with light and art and smiling faces that greet you upon check in and smile even when you say goodbye. The front of the house staff (they are multi-lingual) will get you taxis, and patiently find and recommend local Italian-vibed restaurants and bars. There is no restaurant on site, so they just know where to send you. They have a sister property with a full restaurant. I went there for a glass of wine and desert. Beautiful view of Florence. Just such a wonderful experience!!!!
Rooms: My room (I had a king size bed) was immaculate, clean, light filled, and the air conditioning is quiet and well balanced. You will not be uncomfortable during your rest with their AC. No loud AC or cold air on our skin messing up your sleep or sinuses.
The windows open to wonderful light. I was in a quiet side of the hotel, but still full of sunshine. Beds are extremely luxurious, pillows are rich, sheets are cool, clean and perfectly made. Floors are smooth and fine to walk on barefoot. For those that have foot sensory issues, like crumbs and sand and unswept/sticky floors on your feet feel uncomfortable--you won't need to place on your socks in this hotel room. The cleaning staff you can tell are very particular. They do not play! Night time is so peaceful also.
Bathroom is comfortably mid-sized, with all accessories. Water is strong and hot as you like it. The quality of the products is good. But what I have found in Italy, is the lotions are so thin, no shea butters in Italy! LOL. But I do bring my own lotions and hair products, since I have very dry skin and natural hair.
Roof: They have a wonderful terrace at the top. You can call for the front staff to pour you a glass of wine or make you a mixed drink. Breakfast is served there, and they have an amazing self serve cappuccino/tea/hot chocolate machine that I wish I had at home. The roof area is filled with books! It's a library! Lots of art books. It's just so wonderful.
In the hallways, everywhere you turn, their is something beautiful to look at on the walls. The vibe is positive at Milu.
All around are great gelato places, bars for wine and cocktails, fashion, jewelry, perfume, places to walk, bridges to cross, people to look at. And their is a man down the street performing on violin.
They will bring you an iron or steamer. They have wonderful places to plug in your equipment. Lighting is well designed. Bed, sheets, walls, windows - Millennial/GenX luxury.
Safety: I felt so safe at this hotel and on the streets everywhere in Florence. I booked this hotel in part because I was traveling solo for my creative agency, and I need places that have 24 hour attendants/staff and have secure entry. Traveling as a solo woman, I will never use AirBNB. I need verified and highly reviewed 24/7 staffed hotels just like Milu.
Highly recommend Milu, and when they open a new property, wherever it is, I will be there.

Read moreA perfect location to explore the old part of the city - located in a pedestrian zone, a street filled with premium brands. A very tastefully designed interior and staff that couldn't have been more helpful; absolutely wonderful people willing to help you out as much as possible.
If you are coming by car, they have a valet service and charge about 30EUR/day with car available within 45 minutes. It is the same charge you'd pay in public garages, just without any hassle. The GPS leads you 100m on the opposite side of a small square (you'll end up facing the bridge, and you actually need to go 100m in the other direction) but hotel staff is expecting such a thing as it is simply a Google bug. Anyhow, it is easily accessible by car and the parking garage takes care of registering the car with local authorities. Since the hotel is actually situated in a Limited Traffic Zone, you'd probably quickly get fined if they didn't sort that out for you.
The room we were at wasn't the most spacious one, but it was clean and tastefully designed, as was the bathroom. After all, we only slept in it, and that's what's important. The minibar is complimentary and non-alcoholic, and the safe is big enough for easily housing a 16" laptop. The only reason for 4* given to the room and not 5* was the noise coming from the street. We were there on Saturday and Sunday, so happy young drunk people were walking down the street all night while not being quiet at all and we could hear very loud garbage pickup early in the morning. We didn't mind that too much, but if you sleep light, it would be advisable to ask for a room facing the court and not the street. That would surely eliminate all the street noise.
The breakfast is served at the small rooftop terrace (heated during winter), with a standard hotel buffet selection, lovely bite-sized tramezzini sandwiches and made-to-order eggs. Nothing spectacular, but very lovely arranged and with a lot of local atmosphere. Well done.
Overall, it was an absolutely great experience and we'll surely book the same hotel this summer as we have no intentions of searching any further. We've already visited Florence a number of times and this place is a...
Read moreWhere do I even start! I really can't thank Bruno, Sara, Laura, Eva, Enrique and Christyalla (I hope I spelled that correctly) enough! They are everything anyone staying in a foreign country would expect from a concierge! From they're warm friendly smiles, to they're helpful food and cultural site recommendations Florence was a dream! Hotel Milu goes above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one! Before leaving every morning to go exploring the city, they would ask my brother and me if we knew where we were headed or if we needed a map, which they would make sure we knew every point of interest so if we did get lost all we would have to do is look up and walk towards the closest one and navigate from there. Bruno and Laura gave us some excellent food recommendations which are more traditional plates compared to the tourist spots. Sara and her sweet smile and soft voice told us where we could walk to get an incredible view of the entire city and also the best pizza restaurant I've ever eaten at in my entire life! Eva, such a sweetheart made a few phone calls for me and also told me where I can get the best sandwich in town! Christyalla with her bright smile was able to print train tickets for brother and I and also call us a taxi to the train station! Enrique had the graveyard shift so he pretty much listened to our travels for the day throughout the city! The maid service was also very kind as they saw my brother was sick after the first night and asked if he needed anything that wasn't offer in the free mini fridge! I also had breakfast 1 morning on the rooftop where Laura was very kind and asked if I needed more eggs (the best eggs I've had) or coffee or if I needed my plate cleared so I could go back for 2nd or 3rds! The room we stayed in are very modern with heated bathroom floors, standing marble shower, a heated towel rack and a bidet! Hotel Milu is walking distance from everything Florence has to offer, whether you would like to go sight seeing, to shopping or just to grab a bite to eat! All in all when I do visit Florence again I definitely know where I will be staying! Thank you to the whole staff for making us feel...
