Unfortunate Discriminatory Experience
I recently visited Music on the Rocks with a group of friends, all of us dressed impeccably and meeting all the club's entry requirements, hoping for a night of fun and entertainment. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by an incident of discrimination that left us deeply disappointed and frustrated.
Upon contacting the club beforehand and explaining our group composition (4 men and 2 women), we received a response suggesting that we would be allowed entry if we were "cool." Encouraged by this seemingly inclusive response, we made the one-hour journey to the club, only to encounter an entirely different reality upon arrival.
To our surprise, despite meeting the club's gender ratio requirement and adhering to their stated dress code, the bouncer at the entrance blatantly denied entry to our two Italian friends. This decision appeared arbitrary and inconsistent with the club's purported policy, as confirmed by the front-end personnel who had initially communicated with us. The bouncer's unwavering determination to prevent the Italian members of our group from entering, despite our adherence to all requirements, was both perplexing and disheartening.
Such discriminatory behavior is not only morally reprehensible but also illegal under Italy's anti-discrimination laws. These laws are designed to protect individuals from being unjustly treated based on factors such as nationality, race, or ethnicity. The club's actions not only violated the principles of equality and inclusivity but also infringed upon the rights of individuals who were simply seeking to enjoy their evening.
Moreover, the club's response stating that "you can get in if you're cool" is another form of discrimination that introduces subjective criteria and opens the door to the abuse of power by a single bouncer's decision. Such subjective evaluations undermine the fairness and transparency that should be expected from an establishment that welcomes the public.
I urge potential patrons to reconsider visiting Music on the Rocks, as our experience highlights a concerning lack of respect for customers and a disregard for the principles of fairness and equality. Discrimination should have no place in any establishment that welcomes the public, and it is essential that we support venues that prioritize inclusivity and respect for all.
I sincerely hope that by sharing our unfortunate encounter, others can be spared from a similar distressing experience. Let us stand together against discrimination and choose venues that embrace diversity and provide an inclusive and welcoming...
Read moreHonest opinion from someone who bought a hotel and traveled and hour away to enjoy the only nightlife on the Amalfi coast while on my honeymoon. Take with a grain of salt as most of yall will.
But please be careful. As stated above we came on our honeymoon to enjoy a nice party and just get drunk and have a good time. After dancing for 4+ hours right in front of the dj and having an absolute blast. My wife decided she wanted to get on stage with the DJ. Me standing below the stage thought it was amazing, her favorite artist came on and it was a great time.
Little did I know after she came down , she told me that there was a bald guy up there with the dj who tried to take her ring. And play it off like he was dancing…
She was completely sober and aware of the situation and I tried to bring it up with the bouncer by the bar, he spoke no English and got upset thinking I was trying to make a scene after many hours of him seeing me just genuinely having a good time and completely controlled. I tried to go to my bartender who seemed to speak good English and told me to just talk to a bouncer.
Then I tried to speak with the bouncer at the door. Asked him who the owner was. And the owner wouldn’t pay me any attention as the bouncer started to make a scene.
Given as an American who is not in his own country I know when to call it quits and left the bar after my wife had already left as she didn’t feel comfortable there anymore while I tried to file a complaint.
The only person who would hear who I had to say was the guy who worked for the bar at the entrance of where the restaurant is.
Not sure if anything was done about it. But I can only do so much given I’m some dumb drunk American who cares about his new wife in Italy.
Anyway… the atmosphere was spectacular and we had a great time other than the last hour. But please just stick to your own in there. Stay on the dance floor. And know, you are not their people, you’re lucky to be there unless...
Read moreWhat should have been a beautiful evening turned out quite the opposite. Two young guys looking for a fun night out. We found this club through TikTok, and from the locals, we already heard that the staff was terrible and the drink prices were outrageous. Once we arrived in the beautiful Positano, we set out to find the club. Walking down the charming, authentic streets where you can already smell the Italian sea, we reached the beach and saw the nightclub in the distance. We noticed five over-the-top security guards standing there. Unaware of what was to come, we walked toward the entrance, where we were not treated kindly. We always greet people politely, but we barely got a hello, just a very unfriendly look from the grumpy security guard at the door. He looked to be around 50, should have retired by now, but because his wife nags at him all day on the couch, he grudgingly plays the role of a security guard at a nightclub. He asked where we were staying, and we answered that we had booked a hotel about an hour away. He responded, "You're not getting in." When I asked why, this terrible grumpy guard said that two guys without women aren't allowed in. When I mentioned that we had driven an hour, he laughed and said we should just drive back and stay where we came from. In short, for anyone who wants to party or have a good time here: you'd be better off buying a crate of beer or a bottle of wine with your friends and getting drunk at home rather than trying...
