Complete disaster.

The parking is alright but the shuttle to the center that's meant to be every 15 minutes took an hour from the bus stop to getting to the car park. When we arrived some people were leaving to go by foot but the way isn't pedestrian friendly at all and definitely not suited for older people or for families.

The bus took ages to arrive, there was a huge queue when the bus finally came and most people couldn't get on. The people that did were stuck in place like sardines.

Our bus then got stuck behind a coach for 15 minutes during which time the driver turned off the AC. He eventually opened the doors for everyone to get off. Then soon after the coach ahead started moving so our bus went too, but refused to stop to pick up the people that had just got off. Leaving most people including elderly and pregnant women stranded. Luckily we were still on the bus but the stranded people would have had to walk up the hill back to the bus stop and start queuing...

Driving into Taormina is only allowed for locals, so you need to park your vehicle elsewhere. This is one of two big Parcheggios in town. Prices are not cheap, did cost 4 Euros an hour. And the building is terribly narrow. We came in with a Ford Station Wagon, which was about 5 meters long and that was quite difficult, but manageable.

But there are some upsides as well. You don't need to walk to Taormina, because there's a free shuttle service if you park here. The busses arrive very frequent and the ride is just 5mins long. Staff here was friendly as well and we felt that our car was safe.

Just one thing: Taormina itself overcrowded with tourists. It's a nice village, but there are nicer places to visit in Sicily. If you got some extra time to kill though it's...

Good parking...but need either to take the shuttle (ground floor, plus you'll need a face mask to board and ride currenty, bring your own) up to Porta Messina. Or you can walk from the top (4th parking deck) up the stairs to Taormina (about 283 steps to climb). Circular ramp to acess each parking deck is tight and narrow so proceed slowly. Ramp also has stairs so mind your tires on the stairs side so not to damage your tires or wheels. If Lumbi is try Parcheggio Porta Catania on the other side of Taormina. But chances are that may be full too. Best chance for parking is early arrival (before 6pm.)

A necessity; quite expensive, run down parking structure. We drove a small rental, but large cars could have difficulty going up or down the ramps. Toilets were fine, elevators didn't work. Shuttle driver saw us running towards his half empty bus, yet instead of picking us up, he waved and smiled at us, and left us behind. In low season waits are longer than 15 mins, and it was raining as well. We were in a rush so decided to take the stairs down. When we arrived, the same driver was making fun of us with his colleagues. Again; it's that there's no alternative or I wouldn't ever come back here.
