An Arashiyama experience I'd highly recommend. Because it's on the opposite side of the river from Arashiyama's main attractions, this temple, pagoda, and fantastic lookout are easily missed. But don't go in through the main gate or you'll miss the best part. After crossing the Togetsu Bridge, go straight ahead. Where the road takes a left turn, there is a set of stone stairs between two hotels. This is the back entrance, taking you through ancient graveyards and lush moss gardens. It's truly beautiful and so peaceful and cool. Follow the path to Horin-ji, the 8th century Buddhist temple, the Horinji Tahoto Pagoda and around to your right, a lookout with the best view of Arashiyama. You can exit via the main gate and experience this impressive entrance as well. I really encourage you to walk across the bridge and visit this...

A very quiet and not popularly visited temple. "Constructed by Gyōki in 713 AD, and was originally named Kadonoi-dera (葛井寺). It is dedicated to Ākāśagarbha, the bodhisattva of the boundless space." It is one of the Thirteen Buddhist Sites of Kyoto.

From what I could surmise from my visit and the Kanji I read, the temple has to do with electricity. So you might pay a visit to such a temple if you are performing electrical work, or are an electrician etc. to pray for the development of all electric related business relating to electricity, radio waves, electronics, and for no accidents relating to...

Stepping into the serene premises of Hōrin-ji Temple 法輪寺 felt like embarking on a peaceful journey through history. With a remarkable age of 1,300 years, this Shinto temple exuded an aura of tranquility and offered a remarkable glimpse into Japan's rich spiritual heritage.

As I approached the temple grounds, I was greeted by a sense of calmness that seemed to wrap around me. The lush greenery and meticulously maintained gardens added to the overall serenity. The traditional architecture of the temple, featuring intricate wooden details and elegant roofs, showcased the timeless beauty of...
