Everything is full on a weekend in Arashimaya. But not this place. Here is why. I'm sad because they have everything to be a nice place: a good menu idea, a good-chic place, and an amazing view on both sides. But the price-quality is not good. I ordered a tea for 638¥ (around 4.5 euros): it wasn't a complete cup, the cluttery looked dirty, and as other reviews say it was tasteless. During the time I was there three tables were complaining about the orders, and they were also not happy about the food. It was 5 pm, and the main attraction are scones. They were sold out. The only thing on the menu to eat and there is none, two hours before closing. This needs to be reviewed, you have a short/wrong planning there. This is not a popular place like the other cafes around because they don't offer something good and reliable to the customers, despite being so Instagramable. For the size, they should also have a toilet. But they will tell you to go to the public one crossing the street. Sadly...

The matcha ice cream was flavorful. The scones, however, received mixed reviews. While the sauces were a nice touch, the scones themselves were dense and lacked the crispiness we were hoping for. I also couldn't tell the difference in taste between the plain and matcha scones, despite the extra charge for the matcha version. The only difference was the color.
Another area for improvement is service speed. The café was 70% full (at best), yet it took an unusually long time for our lattes to arrive. Not sure what caused the delay, but it definitely affected...
Read moreHad a pleasant experience enjoying scones and a cold, refreshing drink at CHAVATY. The most memorable experience is most probably being served by this kind looking woman (aged around 40+) because she tried her best to convey her thoughts and guide us through the menu with her limited English. It was very cute and refreshing to see such a hardworking server!
We tried the seasonal drink (Cherry Cola) and scone set (strawberry and normal) alongside a strawberry butter spread with mixed nut spread, which were both recommended by the said server.
Atmosphere is very calm as it was away from the bustling Arashiyama street just right across the river. Got to enjoy the AC during the hot...
