Had the pleasure of staying here on the weekend :) I wasn't too sure what to expect but the staff were extremely friendly and genuinely kind. The staff really make the stay here great. We had some great conversations with them. We did speak to them in Japanese but it seems like they can also speak English fairly well. The breakfast is also quite delicious. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, then you'll like it. The staff told us that the menu changes about 10 times a year, allowing visitors to experience flavors highlighting the seasonal ingredients of the area- we loved watching them prepare the dishes in front of us and explain the ingredients! The rooms were comfortable and we had a nice big window that brought in natural light. The queen sized bedroom was good enough for us, especially since we didn't have any big suitcases. There's no hot water kettle in the room, but you are free to access the lounge on the first floor that has free tea and coffee and comfortable seats. Location is really nice too by the way. Close to the river, the monkey park (didn't have a chance to go), and other stops along the way. So, all in all, I recommend staying here if you want a comfy, well located hotel. Try the...
Read moreIt's a new hotel at Arashiyama- spotlessly clean and beautiful rooms and minimalistic design lobby and lounge. The lounge is very relaxing with complimentary coffee and tea. The breakfast is specially curated according to the season and absolutely delicious- it's definitely a highlight for the stay! Staff speaks English and service is excellent.
There is a sushi shop in front, a sweet shop next door and Lawson down the road near the train station. A short walk to the Arashiyama monkey park and a temple with Great Views down the road. In front of the hotel is a beautiful park facing the rivers with a lot of amazing tea shop and restaurant.
Thank you for the...
Read moreWhat a pleasant place to stay. Very comfortable beds, and overall great atmosphere! The cafe is nice, we had the French toast breakfast with yogurt and tea, so $7 it was the perfect way to start before exploring Kyoto. The hotel is very close to the monkey park (and why we chose to stay here). Definitely check in with the front desk for dinner options, they provided us with a lot of options when Google and Yelp didn't show many options. A black bun burger place and vegan place were in short walking distance from the hotel! We'd definitely stay here again and definitely go see the monkeys. We went in August and there were so...
