Arashiyama House MAMA — Hotel in Kyoto

This hotel was very beautifully designed. A little oasis. The inside/ outside bathtub was a real highlight. The pizza restaurant was also delicious although the portions were on the smaller size. It was a bonus being able to have a 50/50 pizza with two different toppings. The breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast which was not to our taste, it would be great if a western option of something like an omelette could be offered. Staff could have also been a bit more welcoming- we arrived an hour before check in and were given quite a cold response. We just wanted to leave our suitcases but were made to feel like we were being an inconvenience. Aside from the super pretty, clean and premium hotel room, I actually organised a surprise proposal to my girlfriend in this hotel - the amount of help I have received from the hotel staff was tremendous.

Due to the fact that I was trying to plan it from outside Japan, I had to communicate with the hotel purely via email, and they were super helpful from the very beginning till the end (I think it must have been close to 100 over email exchanges due to my complicated requests). They were super kind to help me set up the decoration on the day itself, as well as in the execution, in which the surprise proposal went really well.

Huge thanks again to MAMA for being the venue of our special occasion and we certainly will come back again - 100% would recommend as one of the best hotel...

Life changing experience, despite the relatively high price tag. Stayed there for 3 days, 2 nights and did not want to leave. The rooms are spacious, elegant and have every creature comfort you would need. It is highly recommended you make a dinner reservation for pizza, which is both homely and delicious. Stay comes with traditional breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, what sets this place apart is the impeccable service from their staff, who treated us with kindness and warmth throughout our entire stay. Specific commendation for a young lady named, Miharu. She was gentle, friendly, and accommodating. We have only left but are looking forward to our next stay...
