I went to Awa Naramachi due its high ratings on both Tabelog and Google. We had dinner and went with a multi course meal with Yamamoto beef. Long story short I was disappointed due to the lack of flavor.

It was explained that the ingredients were sourced locally, however they all lacked flavor. I couldn’t tell them apart from what I could buy from the supermarket….

The service was overall friendly.

The restaurant was too hot. One of the courses included grilling meat on a hot plate, which became overwhelming due to non-existent ventilation.

I think the most disappointing course was the dessert. It was a strawberry and a cannelle. They were both very average and the cannelle was dry. It felt in-cohesive with the...

we made a reservation via google chat 1 month+ in advance, and received a reply asking to confirm and notify them of the set meal we wanted. we promptly confirmed the reservation with the set meal we wanted. there was no mention of needing to call.

when we went to the restaurant, the manager said that there was no reservation for us and we would have had to call. no apology given. when we asked if they had other recommendations, he said to go to the tourist information counter; he cannot help us.

you be the judge of the quality of service and hospitality at this restaurant, and whether it gives tourists a good impression of...

Superb vibe and extraordinary service. I would like to specially thank Ms Konako and other staffs serve us. They did their best to serve us without being able to speak Japanese but try to understand all Japanese special vegetables and cooking techniques. Konako sang even gave us a sticky note to teach us the phrase we learnt from her. We are very thankful for the hospitality of...

Very traditional Kaiseki on a 140 year old town house in Nara. They use only local and fresh ingredients. They specialize in vegetable dishes and you can see that they are able to bring out all the flavors from different ingredients in the same dish. The staff was very friendly and took good care of us. Their desserts are also very good!
