My story is simple at this store. Sure there are a lot of customers looking for goods to bring back to their home but I had the worst customer experience ever exploiting foreign tourists.
I made a genuine mistake at this store with a Yamazaki whiskey purchase for a friend for 19,900 yen tax free claimed.
When I realised it was not the one that I should get, within an hour I went back to the same store close to midnight, I approached the store personnel requesting for a refund of money on the purchase. They literally took me on ride explaining the whiskey is not a refundable good. Where on their website did they say branded accessories include Whiskey. The language is so vague and they showed me the little sign that says alcohol is not a refundable item afterward.
The store person acknowledged they made the mistake of not telling me it is not a refundable good. So I said given it is not made known to customer, I should have the right as a customer to have a refund of money on the wrong purchase. A store should not set rules that takes away the right of customer in the Japanese consumer law.
Big chain vs a foreign tourist!!! What chance do I have.
Exploiting foreign tourist who can’t understand Japanese and being a big chain, it is a simple and courteous thing to do. 6 people including the store manager attended to this matter drawing many attention (6 to 1) and kept on saying sorry but they won’t refund. Words with no real action!!
This is not a minor purchase and surely the big business can help the poor customer who genuinely made a mistake.
Definitively not coming back even if they have the best prices (which they don’t for a lot of items).

Read moreYou can tell the way they set things up is mainly to target foreign tourists. The local Japanese cashiers already feel annoyed about the non-Japanese customers, either because they bring non-drug goods to 2nd floor to pay or go to the wrong session for tax refund. You don’t feel the so-called Omotenashi traditional Japanese ways of treating people at all in this store. Why? Because people want to buy tax free products still have to buy anyway and that you cannot deny this location is convenient. No matter what business still comes so there’s no incentive they would increase their service quality.
They hire mandarin speaking staff at the tax refund session due to the needs of those customers who are here for tax free. But they are as cold as you can see from the poker faces and they expect everyone comes up to them to understand their native language.
The standard procedure of buying is that you bring everything to first floor first and they only check out those non-drug goods. After that you would have yo go upstairs yo pay the drugs. Now remember up to this point you have paid full price including tax on everything. The tax refund is different with that from last year when now you get refunded back the tax you paid in the form of cash. It’s recommended that you pay with a credit card.
Keep in mind that they do sell fake products such as bags so if you see a discount on it, don’t rush to buy. Check first as tax refunded products cannot be returned.
This is a store that people working there have no hearts or passion to help. Do expect crowded as hell. Not even worth a three stars...

They place my stuff very rude, did not count the number of item, counter check the goods in group, not professional !
The checkout senior lady is horrible. I told her two times I need to pay in YEN YEN YEN, still ask me to press F1.
Come on… isn’t it simple as ask me to pick the correct currency in the card machine is way better… I can read better than misleading by you.. anyway , I have to call my bank and check whether they have double charge me ( she told me payment doesn’t go thru but I do not trust DONKI stuff ) .. wasted another 30 mins to call my card centre due to your misleading statement and unprofessional check out skills.
Not concentrate at all in a short 2 mins check out time with 26 items ( LOL ; yes, I counter-check my items again and yes, I do not trust DONKI staff)
I appreciate the speed but not pleased with the attitudes, check out skills, customer service. I wonder if I am in Japan for one second, no doubt, the management who decide to hire these people, will leave your loyalty customer / new customer will not come and visit anymore.

スピードは評価しますが、態度、チェックアウト スキル、カスタマー サービスには満足していません。
日本に 1 秒でもいたらと思うほどです。間違いなく、これらの人を雇うことを決めた経営陣は、あなたの忠実な顧客や新規顧客を捨て、二度と来店させないでしょう。

일본에 잠깐만 있어도 의심할 여지 없이 이 사람들을 고용하기로 결정한 경영진은 충성 고객을 떠나게 하고 새로운 고객은 더 이상 찾아오지 않을 것입니다.
