23/7/2021 . This is a better location to enjoy Otaru canal and not the Otaru canal location on google maps! Went there during sunset and saw that the boats were getting ready for one last trip of the day , with lots of ppl lined up. Probably around 5:50-7pm ish.

It was a bit different from what we expected, perhaps because it was midday, not as beautiful as at night. Also, the snow hadn't fallen heavily; just a thin layer on the ground. It took a 10-minute walk from the shopping area.

I love the canal walk—made me feel like I was in Europe with the mountains in the background! The river cruise also looked like fun, although we didn’t try it this time.

Otaru is very laid back, very friendly, and quite friendly. Our cruise ship berthed here and we did some excursions in Sapporo. Nice, but the best part of the place was going to the Otaru Warehouse District. It is a six minute walk to the start of the shops. This District is like many around the world where an old industrial area is redeveloped for shopping and dining. There are wonderful bars,...
