This is a free museum that one can visit to find out more about one of the first banks being set up in Japan taking references and help from the western countries from the early days. A lot of information are in Japanese and you may need to find out more from other sources prior to visiting or use a small brochure they have with basic guidance about the museum. You may feel how heavy it is from a stack of bank notes and look at the intricacies of a bank vault but otherwise it may come off as dull and you can finish the walk in less than 30min. Funnily the guard at the entrance was very reluctant in giving us more than 1 English guide brochure.

The museum itself is not that big in size, but it has many interactive things, that make it an enjoyable visit. You can also experience "bringing" a million yen using your hands! Will revisit again after the new "face" of Japanese money is issued!

A cool snapshot of history of banks and currency in Japan. Free admission and the video content (available in English) was informative - now I know why the notes are always so clean and crisp. Worth a short visit if in the area.

An interesting museum, but as an English speaker with no Japanese I had to follow the pamphlet. Stop past if you are interested in the history of the Banking, the bonus is the free entry.

Free to check out one of the old Banks of Japans. A fair amount of English to help you along. It's free and a nice, historic place to stop by for 30 minutes or so.
