A very golden place where to take a long walk in Tokyo if you are a big fan of anime, manga and especially electronics. One day is not at all enough to visit all these skyscrapers, with floors and floors with videogames, arcades and flippers, from virtual reality experience to the old 80's sega games. Also suggested to people collecting cards and action figures. On the last day 6/12 my friends and me entered in the station because we went go to hibiya line but we saw that it was on the other side of the station. We tried to go out twice and the receptionist was very stupid and bad mannered. We ended up going on the yamanote line because we did not want to be stressed. This is the place for the anime lovers, electronic gadget dudes, cosplay restaurant connoisseurs, shops to get figurines and virtual world items physically.
The food is ok, the station is quite newly renovated, the place is refurbished, quite different than when I came a few years ago. It's not as great as it used to be, maybe due to commercialization of the place, meaning the outcasts of society will have to find another place to set shop. Lots of tourists though, used to be the soul of Virtual Japan.
I can't believe shops can close at 21:00, some even at 20:00,...
Read moreAkihabara Station is a JR East, Tokyo Metro, and Tsukuba Express station located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Many lines such as the Shinkansen, Yamanote Line, and Hibiya Line run through the area, making it convenient for transportation. The area surrounding the station is Akihabara, which is famous as a mecca for otaku culture such as electricity, computers, anime, and games. The station is also full of convenient facilities such as shops, restaurants, and coin lockers.
We think Akihabara Station is one of the most unique and fun stations in Tokyo. When you step out of the station, you'll see electronic shops, maid cafes, cosplay shops, and more, making you feel like you've entered another world. Inside the station, there are trains decorated with anime and game characters, as well as otaku goods vending machines, so you can have fun just by looking at them. The station staff are kind and the directions are easy to understand. We can also view station maps and barrier-free information online. Akihabara Station is a station that we should visit at least once as the epicenter of...
Read moreAnother huge station. It is very busy and it seems like all the time!
One thing, this is a famous area and district... so it is busy all the time. If you do want to get to the subway part, you have to walk around and maybe a block or 2 away.
There is always people outside performing. Tons of food nearby and it is Akihabara!
Hibiya line - Akihbara station.. When i had used the 3 day Toei/tokyo metro pass, I used the Hibiya line to move around and took my son here to Akihabara.
Tsukuba Express - I've actually been wanting to check out this private line!
Fortunately, on my 3rd trip this year, I was able to use it. Once you locate the Tsukuba express entrance at Akihabara, you'll go up and (at least the time I went) wasn't as busy. It was cleaner and looked very new.
It was the only line going to Yashio station.
The train was very clean and I can't help thinking Tsukuba (pronounced Scuba) is related to their mascot, which resembles some animal in a suit?
Very cool...
