Don Quijote, the chain itself, is great and has a wide variety of products and terrific souvenirs. I have been grossly insulted by their customer service however. The employee pictured in this review is the rudest, most unprofessional employee I have ever met, not just in Japan but in all of my travels. He failed to direct us to the tax free counter when we asked about it and then started checking out our goods without waiting for our compliance with taxation. When he tried to charge our credit cards, they didn't work at that counter, and he bluntly told us they didn't work without offering any assistance. At this point, our friends were being helped by another employee, who directed them to the tax free counter. When we asked our cashier about the tax free counter, which was now being serviced, he said something bluntly in Japanese and just stared at us. We tried to express that we wanted to use the tax-free counter. At that point, this employee turned over our shopping bag and disrespectfully dumped all of our products out. Mind you, throughout this entire conversation, we had been speaking Japanese politely to him, so he had no reason not to help us. At the tax-free counter, our cards worked, and there was no issue. This man should be fired. If you are shopping...
Read moreEdit: I had recently visited this outlet (April 2019) and it seems that the staffs are having a bad day or something?
At the tax free counter, one of the staff shouted at a group of tourist; wanting them to show the digital coupon again (which they are doing so and told the counter staff to wait). He looks stressed as he is the only person at the counter and there are many people queuing and waiting. After awhile which he comms for help then more staffs came to the counter. He obviously had totally lost his cool and I think it’s really unprofessional for him to do that.
After which, I saw another staff was being asked about something but the staff obviously knows that the tourist didn’t know how to speak/hear Japanese but he kept yapping away anyway. After that the tourist stared back at a confused face and the staff just walked away without saying anything. I’m pretty sure that staff was a Japanese but the tax counter staff should be a foreigner though.
So I have to ask: Are the staffs given proper training? Or are they having a bad day; which they shouldn’t behave that way though? I hope the management could review something about this as I had visited this place countless of times over the years and have no problem and really...
Read moreJust a department story. Gets louder the higher you go. You can smoke in the arcade. Tax-free is available for foreigner with passport but the line for that is very long compared to the regular customer line. I went there when AKB didn't have a show so the whole top floor where AKB theater is was blocked, including the stairway so I couldn't even take pictures with the outside.
Best experience was that I spent around $80 on candy here and immediately regretted it 10 minutes after walking out of the store. I read on the internet that generally Japanese store doesn't allow return like in the U.S. unless the product is faulty. I was directed to go to the tax-free counter as they would be able to understand English; the 2 cashiers there (Chinese) were very confused of my request and had to called their manager (also Chinese). Good thing they accepted our return request and was very nice about it. The whole experience, including waiting in line for our turn to talk to the cashier, took around...
