I recently had the joy of visiting Shiba Park, one of Tokyo's oldest and most storied green spaces. Steeped in history and nestled among some of the city's most iconic sights, this park provides a serene escape from the urban hustle. The juxtaposition of ancient trees against the backdrop of the modern Tokyo Tower is like a live-action "city meets nature" film. Walking through Shiba Park, I half-expected a samurai to emerge from the shadows of the trees, smartphone in hand, snapping a selfie with the Tokyo Tower! It's a delightful blend of the old and new, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a history-infused jog.

Free Free Free!!! If you a budget traveler like me then this place will tickle your fancy, free is the key word for this attraction. A must see if it is your first time in Japan, do not pass up this opportunity. Not sure why but a lot of the kids and ladies where dressed up in their traditional Japanese dress at this place. Shopping they have a lot of swapmeet style shopping vendors at here as well. So if you like to haggle like I then this os one of the place in Tokyo for you. Oyeah while you are out here check out the Koi Pond, the Koi are freakishly huge compared to what I'm use too back in America.

This park is the place for Tokyo Christmas market during December till Christmas, this park also gave you the best view of Tokyo tower. During the Christmas time the park became quite packed with Japanese people and Tourist. I really enjoy the Christmas market here, with plenty of European food and beer, there also free with music and some show inside the park, the light and decoration is really amazing. If you will be in Tokyo during Christmas this is must visit place.

「芝公園」は1873(明治6)年の「太政官布達(だじょうかんふたつ)」により、上野、浅草、深川、飛鳥山などとともに指定された日本で最初の公園の一つで、「増上寺」の広大な境内が公園地となった。

Shiba Park ("Shibakoen") is one of the first parks in Japan such as Ueno Park, Asakusa Park, Fukagawa Park, Asukayama Park , etc, founded based on legal acts of the Meiji Restoration Government in 1873 (Meiji 6), Zōjō-ji Temple 's vast precincts became a park.

San'en-zan Zōjō-ji (三縁山増上寺) is one of oldest Buddhist temples in Tokyo.

Shūei (宗叡, 809-884), a disciple of Kūkai, founded a temple named Kōmyō-ji (光明寺) at Kaizuka (貝塚, present-day Kōjimachi in Chiyoda, Tokyo), it is said to be the forerunner of Zōjō-ji. Centuries later, in 1393 during the Muromachi period, at the time of Yūyo Shōsō, the temple converted from the Shingon to the Jōdo school. Shōsō is thus the founder of the present-day temple. Together with Kan'ei-ji, during the Edo period Zōjō-ji was the Tokugawa's family temple.Tokugawa Ieyasu had the temple moved, first to Hibiya, then in 1590, at the time of expansion of Edo Castle, to its present location. Six of the Tokugawa shoguns are buried in the Taitoku In Mausoleum in the temple grounds. The temple's Sangadetsumon (main gate) is the oldest wooden building in Tokyo, dating from 1622. It is the temple's only original structure to survive the Second World War, and it has been designated an Important...

The Christmas Market....well pale memory of the real thing....

No real market, they might more appropriately call it Christmas food show.... Be aware, that this is a hollow reminder, a pale offering of what you could get by being in a real European market- there were no gift, no art, no varied offerings of food....

My hot chocolate was made with mulled wind, not water....putrid....really gross....

Nice setting, mud was ankle deep...no real planning for anything but taking your monies for poor quality food - suggest walk nearby, enjoy the thought....and go to a great dinner any of the find Japanese/Tokyo venues....that are far better quality than this poser of a...
