Zojo-ji Sange Datsumon Gate — Local services in Tokyo

三解脱門 San Gedatsu mon [gate of three liberations] of 大本山 増上寺 Daihonzan Zōjōji [temple]. Those who pass through the gate will be liberated from the evils of greed, hatred and foolishness. Built in 1622, the gate is the oldest wooden building in Tokyo and designated an Important Cultural Property. To the left of the entrance is a wooden signboard for the temple's April festival of 御忌 (gouki) Buddha's Birthday. 【 2024/05/04(土㊗️)再訪 】 東京タワー🗼へ行った後、約4年ぶりに訪れました❗️GW中だったので、東京タワー🗼同様、境内にはたくさんの人が居ました。

【 2020/10/25訪問時のクチコミ 】 三解脱門 Sangedatsumon (通称「三門」)は、増上寺の「表門」が大門(だいもん)であった当時の「中門」に当たり、元和8(1622)年に建立され、大正4年に国の重要文化財に指定されています❗️

門をくぐると、「むさぼり」「怒(いか)り」「愚(おろ)かさ」の3つの煩悩(ぼんのう)から解き放たれるといわれています✨

上層部(楼上)には、中央に釈迦三尊像(しゃかさんぞんぞう)、脇壇に十六羅漢像(じゅうろくらかんぞう)が安置されています。

釈迦三尊像は、中央は蓮台に坐した「釈迦如来坐像(しゃかにょらいざぞう)」… 向かって左側の象🐘の上に座っているのは、慈悲の心を持ち、人々を苦しみから救う「普賢菩薩坐像(ふげんぼさつざぞう)」… 右側の獅子🦁の上に座っているのは、知恵を司る「文殊菩薩坐像(もんじゅぼさつざぞう)」

両脇には江戸時代に作られた「十六羅漢像(じゅうろくらかんぞう)」→ 修行の末、一切の煩悩を断ち切り、悟(さと)りを開いた高僧(こうそう)達なのだそうです。

上層部(楼上)は一般公開されていませんが、テレビ📺で何度か見たことはあります❗️江戸時代、三解脱門は展望台として開放されていたそうで、海が見えたとのことであります👀

東日本最大級を誇る門ということで、目の前にすると巨大な門であることを体感することができます❗️
