This is a multi-level, air conditioned music and demo store. All the staff are pretty helpful and caring. One lady made sure we got onto the elevator to the correct floor. She even pushed the button. The first level is where you can play the piano while on screen plus drink coffee at the cafe. The other floors have different music themes, for example, wind instruments, guitars, pianos etc. You can play any instrument but must ask permission to play. The glockenspiel had staff find a mallet for us to play. It’s rather quiet everywhere here so you feel a bit self-conscious when you play, but hey, now you can say, “I played Tokyo,” & whisper, “Yamaha Tokyo Ginza music store.” There is a humongous sheet music library, but from what I could see, mostly in Japanese. The notes are universal though. There were little accessories, like piano sheet music holders, metronomes, foot pedal covers etc. I did gawk at the gold flutes. At first I thought they were colored gold, but I think they are made of gold based on the prices, $21 to $45k for one. There is a gigantic xylophone, some of the wooden bars as long as your arm. There are also hard to find parts for your various instruments. All in all, a good visit, we even got treated to an excellent violinist performance demo. They also have concerts here, but not on the...
Read moreWide selection of classical cds and music scores! I play the piano and from where I live, we don’t have an actual cd store anymore on classical music. But this place has a wide selection on that! I was totally blown away. This is my second time to this store in two years. I did my homework and wrote down everything I wanted. The staffs were all very helpful to find the stuff on my list. I also got introduced to many fine Japanese pianists here. The scores selection here are amazing too. I know nothing about Japanese, but I still bought many books on music scores published in Japan. Because the scores very affordable and again, wide selection. I usually buy my scores online or order at a local store which takes at least three weeks. This one stop resolve everything. The classical music scene here is definitely happening and blooming in Tokyo. I...
