As other reviewers have mentioned, this Courtyard is nothing like the ones that are located in the US. This could be called a Sheraton or even a Marriott. Be aware as several reviewers mentioned, watch out when you take a shower because if the water is too strong, the water will end up going on the floor of the bathroom and whatever you have on the floor will get wet. I forgot to tell my wife about this and some of her clothes got wet. When I went, I did not make the water hit the back of the shower and it was okay. Here are other notes about the hotel:||From Narita Airport: We took the Airport Limousine (orange bus) and we got dropped off right in front of the hotel. There is no driveway into the hotel, there is an opening in the curb so the bus did not have to stop on the street. I believe you can take the same bus back to Narita Airport, I do not know if it will go to Haneda Airport. The website will tell you.||Location: The Courtyard is located about couple blocks from the main street of Ginza. As the picture shows on the website, it is located right next to the AC Hotel and the Aloft hotel. Right near the Aloft hotel is a Lawson convenience store and on the back side of the hotel is a 7-11. The Ginza 6 (shopping center) is about a 5-minute walk and the Mitsukoshi Department store is about a 10-minute walk. We walked to the Tsukiji Outer Market to eat seafood and it was about a 10-15 minute walk. The receptionist provided a map of restaurants and shopping areas that was helpful. We felt the Courtyard is very convenient. We did not take the subway or train so I cannot say how far the nearest station is. But we did see several as we walked to Mitsukoshi.||Checking In: Since we arrived at the hotel at about 8:00 pm, there was no line to check in and our room was ready. As a Gold member I got some perks, the staff gives you a sheet of the perks you receive. It wasn't much. I noticed the higher status receives breakfast so that is beneficial for those with higher status than Gold. When booking the hotel, we chose the option for the hotel to choose the room. We would have preferred a room with one bed, they gave us a room with two twin beds. The person said the other one bed rooms were already taken. ||Room: From our past travels to Japan we were expecting a small size room and the room we got was small, but it was okay for two people. I think if there was another person (teenage child or bigger), it would feel a little tight. I suggest be prepared for a small size room.||TV: I know most people don't watch tv, but I still do. Just a warning all of the channels except for maybe two are Japanese. The only English-speaking channels were CNN and NHK World. ||Business Lounge: There is a business lounge (similar to an airline lounge at an airport) where I saw people working on their computers. I thought it would be a great place to go late at night so I don't bother my wife sleeping, but the lounge closes at 10:00 pm. ||Other Amenities: We did not go to the restaurant, gym, or other amenities.||Checking Out: We asked for a late check out and we got 2:00 pm. The nice part is my meeting ended up running late and the staff was willing to give us 2:30 when we explained we are running late. ||Overall I found the Courtyard to be a great hotel. The location is great, there is the shuttle to and from Narita Airport, and there are several places (Ginza, Tsukiji, 7-11) nearby. If you can remember about the shower situation you...
Read moreThis hotel is well located in Ginza for shopping; the Ginza Six mall is right next to it. It is a 20 min taxi ride from Haneda airport and the train station is an easy 15 min walk. Taxis are easy to hail to and from around the hotel and most take credit cards in Tokyo.||||All in all, the hotel is spotlessly clean, convenient and accessible; the breakfast buffet was very good. There are several good restaurants on the premises. I tried Morry’s upon arrival when everything else was already closed/booked. This is the ramen restaurant and very good; the green, grassy sauce provided on the table in little pots to add flavor to the ramen was excellent! ||||However I found the double twin room for 2 occupants cramped and tight with very little room to open suitcases in the long, narrow configuration. The bathroom was extremely compact and claustrophobic with its low ceilings. The placement of the large shampoo/conditioner/body wash pumps on the side of the narrow tub also resulted in scratches on ones’s arm making me wonder how larger individuals would fare in that set up. It should have best been placed somewhere in front of the bather.||||The worst experience was water flooding the floor from a special channel on the bathtub. Despite showering at the lowest water pressure, the water is sure to flow into this groove/channel and end up on the floor. I was not aware of this and was greeted with the dismaying sight of the bath mat and my slippers floating around in a centimeter of water after my shower!!💦 🚿I wouldn’t have had an issue if sufficient warning was given to keep the bath mat and slippers out of the way since the water is designed to flow to the floor where a large drain was located! In any case, the hotel staff were very helpful and came with several towels to mop up the mess. Needless to say subsequent showers were done with the bath mat placed on the rack and slippers outside the bathroom floor without incident. ||||As a special note, my sister and her family were in a much better room for 3 occupants. The set up included a sofa bed in a sort of entrance foyer in an L-shaped configuration and a separate toilet and shower. The shower included a glass door around a bathtub, a much better configuration altogether. Something to keep in mind for anyone considering booking this hotel including myself. ||||All in all, I wouldn’t mind rebooking with all the information I have gleaned from my...
Read moreLocated in the Ginza district of Tokyo, expect lavish western brands - Diore, MK, Porsche, all the stuff you tried to run away from in America to be staring at you. Right in your face. But invest a little time and energy and you can find some authenticity here too. The Courtyard will be pricey. Almost $500 a night USD in some cases (our case, the Thursday we arrived) but we had American Express travel points we used to pay for the room, not actual money. You would expect for that price, for there to be more amenities and for the worth of your dollar to stretch further. But the rooms were rather small for the price. The TV was old, out of date and with no options (No mirror casting available in 2025? We've stayed at 2 star hotels that even had EZ-Cast so you can watch netflix from your phone cast to the TV screen). Within the building there is a convention / conference center in the upper 2 floors. Ground level you will find a Tea and Liquor shop, a suitcase shop, a Ramen restaurant and fine dining (westerner themed restaurant w/ fish and chips, burgers, sandwiches, etc). On the Basement floor is a sushi restaurant and workout area. It was a shame they didnt have a little convienence area or general store like most hotels do now. The Fairfield in Osaka of all places had that. So I'm not sure why there wasn't a place you could purchase toiletries, a bag of chips or a soda or snack to take up to your room on site of a 4 star hotel. Very inconvienent because I wanted a quality razor, not the cheap plastic 1-bladed razor that scars your skin they supply here.
I'll never understand the trash system here. You get packaging on a product you needed but you're not expected to throw it away ever after consuming it or limit throwing things like the packaging away. So I should carry this used, greasy, cardboard food container with me, cross contaminating everything, everywhere I go? Give me a trash can larger than a can of soda for my room please.
The staff were nice. However again, you have to press them for that early check-in and keep following up because it wont be offered which is a shame. You want to pay for excellence and should be treated with such by having alternate rooms on standby for immediate entry of the weary traveler. Especially considering the cost.
It was just okay and for the cost. Theres better options in the...
