We visited Annam Indian Restaurant during our stay in Tokyo. Whilst recovering from a stomach bug and far from home, we decided to get some homely food to soothe the soul as I was missing my mum’s cooking. When we first entered the restaurant the atmosphere was good, however, this quickly changed as soon as we were seated. The restaurant itself presents well, with a mix of Japanese art and Indian style table sets. Once we were seated we were given two sets of menus, one being set menu ‘cash only’ and the other being Al La Carte ‘card payable’. We were confused by this that we had to ask 3 times to understand whether we could order from both menus or just one. We ordered a biryani set with drinks + curry set (naan) with drinks + 3 pieces of tandoori chicken. After ordering our food we were quickly rushed to another table as ‘a group of 20’ were coming. Once seated at our new seats, it took about 10 min to get our food. This is where the horror began. The naan was under cooked, doughy and oily. It was inedible. The biryani was okay, but lacked flavour. After another 10 min or so we were greeted with our tandoori chicken. After biting into the chicken the outside was hot but near the bone was cold and undercooked as well as pink. Once we alerted the server, they took away the two pieces we dug into and swiftly returned with the same half-eaten pieces but more cooked this time. I have never experienced a restaurant returning my half eaten food back to me and leaving the other untouched piece of chicken in the original plate instead of replacing the whole dish or even apologising. Please look at the photos. At this stage, we were severely disappointed and notified the server of our uncooked naan, in which they began arguing that it was doughy because of the cheese. Additionally, we were never given our drinks which was apart of the set menu orders. The final straw was the person who appeared to be the boss in a suit walking around our table speaking in what I think is either Punjabi or Hindi about us and staring at our half eaten food. However, instead of enquiring with us, he was clearly just complaining about us to his staff. Upon further review, if you look at the lowest reviews for this restaurant, you can see the real problem with the restaurant. The owner lacks accountability. The way in which he responds to bad reviews, replying with the likes of ‘fake review’ or that reviewers ‘are paid by someone else’ is just appalling behaviour. This restaurant seems to have disappointed both Japanese and Indian hospitality at the same time. Don’t be fooled by the 4.1 star review and I would not recommend this restaurant, unless you want to torture yourself with uncooked food and...

Read moreI would not recommend this restaurant over other good Indian restaurants available in and around Ginza. Yes, the food was decent. But not worth for the hype or price that they charge. If you plan to have some drink here, then that will be your worst choice made ever. They have good varieties of alcohol kept on their liquor cabinet. But the drink menu is no where related to what is kept over in the rack. Basically the drink menu is short and there's no clarity on what to order. One menu contains English and Japanese text mixed where customers ll be confused due to its poor indentation. Even the waited doesn't clearly know which drink to serve for the chosen item. One person randomly bluffed one kind of alcohol and another person pointing different. We must agree that we made a mistake of ordering items which aren't in the menu and prices were not clearly told (we were bit lenient and trusting there) to us as well before the bill arrived.. To conclude, alcohol is highly expensive here and you ll be disappointed with the service.. Briyani was pathetic and it doesn't come with a pathetic Raitha(costs around 700 yen for one small bowl of Raitha, we ordered 3 bowls. There are restaurants in Japan, where they give briyani itself for that price). So if you ask for a Raitha, (hoping the freebie will help eating the pathetic briyani. Sorry, the raitha is not a freebie and it doesn't help anyhow.)They ll be pleased to give the Raitha after you finish eating the briyani and they add it in the bill like a boss without any intimation. Other items are okay.. Will recommend Garlic Fish tikka and pepper chicken fry alone from starters.. One time you can experience, if you are aware of the drink menu and...
