Zōjō-ji Treasures Gallery — Attraction in Tokyo

Our visit to Zōjō-ji Treasures Gallery was very unexpected, I only seen the place when I was at the top of Tokyo Tower and wanted to see what the building was. It is a short walk away from Tokyo Town and is very easy to get to.

The buildings in this place are absolutely beautiful. At the time we visited the place was quite empty so we were able to walk around slowly reading all the details.

They have a lot to see here and signs that explain more details in both Japanese and English. We arrived at a time when the building was also open we were able to enter and see people about to prey.

The court is surrounded by trees and plants so you would not expect it to be so close to the city. I would have loved to see the Zōjō-ji Treasures Gallery when there was more people in the area to learn more but it was a...

徳川将軍家の二大菩提寺、上野の寛永寺(天台宗)と並ぶ浄土宗寺院の宝物殿。 増上寺敷地内に建立されていた徳川所縁の霊廟遺構は先の対戦でほぼ全て焼失しましたが、戦前の健在だった頃にその縮小レプリカが大英帝国に贈られており、大英博物館の倉庫で長らく眠っていたものが再発見され、それを故エリザベス女王の厚意で無期限貸与されて里帰りして展示されてます。他にも、15世紀以前の宋や元や高麗時代に伝来し、先の戦災をも奇跡的に免れた仏教経典の貴重な現物が展示されてもいます。

こちらでも地上の案國殿と同じく御朱印を頂ける、と色々な所で紹介されていますが、注意点としてこちら、入場料が別途必要です。

厳密には地下に降りると案内窓口とエントランスフロアがあり そこまでは自由に出入りできる。 窓口で「京浜四大本山巡り」というパンフレット兼・御朱印帳風冊子(500円)と、それに貼付するための御朱印として「無量寿」(300円)が拝受できる。別に冊子は買わなくても良いし貼付固定 な提供形態では無いようですが。

展示室の入場には展示室入場オンリーで700円、地上の将軍家 墓地への入場料(単価500円)も合わせた物の場合は1000円の入場料の支払いが必要。 入場すると、展示室フロアにて 「皇女和宮」「五百羅漢」「台穂院殿」の御朱印(各300円)が拝受できます。これらは全て書き置き式で、書入れは無し。 注意点としては釣銭が無いので小銭が無い状態で入場すると志納料が払えず御朱印拝受できませんので注意。

特筆事項として、かつて月替わり御朱印として「釈尊十大弟子」 の御朱印(10名の弟子名の銘)を頒布していたそうですが、今は 頒布しておらず現在は終了しているとの事です。
