Now, this place is the real deal. Yeah, it's full of boomers. (Like me!) Yeah, it's on the older side. No, it's not fancy. However, if you want a GREAT haircut, this is the place. I was shocked. I waited maybe 30 minutes. During the wait, I spoke to several customers who've been coming for years. There was lively banter on topics like fishing, boat engines, groceries, why Tacoma is way better than Seattle, why Washington is way better than California, how I-5 is still a mess, what a gorgeous day it was, and everything. Everyone left satisfied with a nice cut. With the short wait, it was finally my turn. I got up in the chair, and Jon asked me what I wanted. I told him I'd been to fancy barbers, fancy salons, the PX. I described what i wanted that probably made no sense and then said, "Please just help me." 15 minutes later, I was done and very happy because I finally had a nice clean haircut. Read moreJon does a great job cutting hair and my little son loves 'Barber Jon.' The prices can't be beat ($7 for a child's hair cut, $8 for a senior, $4 beard trim and $9 for an adult) and kids get a lollipop afterwards. Located right on 6th Ave, it's easy to get to, and there is free street parking. First come first serve, you might be waiting for your cut so add more time in your schedule in case it's crowded. Cash or check Only! The building is old as are the chairs and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is that it seems hair is only cleaned up at the end of the day. If you come in towards closing, there will be loads of hair on the floor. However, Jon is very clean with the instruments he uses. Overall, great place to come, just wear close toed shoes if a hairy floor...
Read moreRecently moved into the area and had to find a new barber. Jon was recommended by a number of people in a local Facebook group so I stopped by today. I'm bald so I don't need a stylist; I need my head shaved so I was looking for the cheapest place around. I showed up on a Saturday morning and there were 2 people ahead of me yet the wait was only 20 minutes. When it was my turn, I realized that Jon doesn't take card payments. He shaved my head anyway and let me come back to pay him in cash. I made sure I left him a sizable gratuity not only because of the exception he made but I asked for the closest shave possible so he used a straight edge razor as opposed to just an electric one. Go give this guy...
