Oh, The Goofy Goose!! Wow.. What can I say.. This is the best Teriyaki joint in all of the Tacoma area. A very friendly Korean family runs the place and the son of the owner actually spent some time talking about the history of the place and how it has been in the family a long time. They take great pride in producing authentic Teriyaki and use decent quality ingredients, free of all the additivies and junk you will find at many other places. They also make many of their own sauces. So many Teriyaki places make tasteless and overpriced food. These people here take pride in their restaurant and it shows in the quality of the food.
The food at Goofy Goose always is very flavorful, the portions are quite large and the prices are very cheap for what you get. Also, the people are very friendly and you can expect them to be helpful when you do your order. They offer a wide variety of dishes and I am eager to try their burgers sooner or later, but I am always so happy with my Chicken Teriyaki dishes.
Try the Chicken Breast Teriyaki with a Side of Veggies.. You will be pleased!
P.S. This place also has the coolest name of any restaurant I have eaten...
Read moreI have to say I'm not sure what happened to this place. Maybe there are new owners but the food quality has gone way down. I specifically asked the girl at the front counter if there were any veggies mixed in with the spicy chicken. I said, okay so no onions at all or other veggies correct? She said only green onions come on top. I asked for those not to be put onto my order. When I received my food there were more white onions than chicken. It was very difficult to eat and pick around. I would have had them redo it however I was in a time crunch for my lunch break. During my meal another patron that was eating there left and said to tell the chef he still put mayo on my burger even though I asked for it without. They can't get the orders right here even when you are being specific about how you would like your food made. I used to love goofy's, I'd go once a week. Sadly I will not be back to this establishment. The cherry on top is that they keep the lobby freezing cold making it quite uncomfortable to dine in. I'm sad this place has gone in such a downward spiral....
Read moreReturned to Goofy Goose after viewing menu on Google. So far have had: Chicken Teriyaki, Fish and Chips, the Onion Burger, and Pork Chow Mein. The Chicken Teriyaki had the perfect amount of sauce, chicken tender yet some crispy spots, and the salad dressing my all-time favorite (2 meals from this order). The fish was cooked in 3 thin slices with a breaded batter that didn't have to be drenched in tarter sauce to enjoy with thin French fries that reminded me of my favorite McDonald's fries and everything so delicious which I shared with a friend. I requested that the Onion Burger be just the bun, patty and onions. Stated wanted a "Fair Burger" since haven't had one in years. My request was fulfilled! Pork Chow Mein was not what I wanted which was the Cantonese style of my youth that was probably totally unhealthy. I ate and enjoyed this type of Chow Mein which had excellent sautéed vegetables and rice (3 meals from this order). Am planning to order my favorites and trying new dishes. This is not the Goofy Goose Burger joint...
