this place has a nice boutique specialty coffee concept, except that it is not. the cold brew we ordered (arabica typical) came with a pile of ice, which is not how cold brew coffee should be. the cafe is also poorly stocked, ran out of 2 flavours of ice cream out of 4 available; ran out of condensed milk for my Vietnamese coffee.
the home made waffles tasted great though. overall, this isn't the place for discerning coffee drinkers.
EDIT : shortly after I left this review, Micka the Roaster of Le Trio Coffee tracked (i would really say stalked) me down on Facebook and sent a message which was disturbing and intimidating to me.
This, to me, reflects a lack of ethics and defeats the spirit of how Google Reviews should be used. It seems to suggest that, only post on Google if you have good things to say, but speak to our staff personally if you have negative feedback. If that's the way Google Review is being used, wouldnt the resulting reviews be skewed negatively and inaccurate? Also, readers are discerning and will note all feedback in totality and not judge based one a single review. The defensive reaction from the Roaster of Le Trio is an emotional one and counterproductive.
I have sent this feedback to Google Maps as well, because I feel that reviewers should not be harassed or feel vulnerable for providing...
Read moreWe came Le Trio Coffee this morning after a recommendation from a fellow traveller I met in Vang Vieng. I must say that his recommendation was correct and the coffee is superb (thanks Gert!). I had a cold latte (not my usual go to but it is a hot day) and the love of my life had a cold cappuccino. Both coffees were excellent. The coffee shop has footpath seating and tables with fans as well as inside seating. Very cool inside in both temperature and ambience! A big shout out to Jules who provided fantastic service. He was attentive, polite and very helpful. Le Trio serves cake sans pastries but we were after some other breakfast options and Jules provided the menu for Coco & Co, which is the vegan cafe next door. The food was very good. See my separate food review...
Read moreThe drip coffee was a little bit disapointing to be honest. My personal preference is deep, dark, intense strong flavors, and what was servered was timid, weak and dull. When you are paying premium price you expect a level of artistry.
A choice of beans, some consultation into my preferences and a outline of flavors to be expected in the cup would have been nice and should really be the norm when drip coffee is being served. The fact that it was at a roaster who one would expect to want to showcase there beans and roasting, surprised me how uninterested the staff where about this.
I feel its a missed opportunity as i was very excited to vist and left remarkable flat...
