Let me tell you about this gem I found in Vientiane - Joma Bakery Café Nam Phou. It's this cute little bakery cafe tucked away near the Nam Phou fountain. I stumbled upon it while wandering around, desperately needing a caffeine fix. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint!

The cafe itself has this cool industrial vibe going on, with exposed brick walls and a clean, modern aesthetic. It felt trendy yet inviting, a place where you could relax with a book or catch up with friends. I snagged a seat by the window and soaked in the view of the street life.

Now, the real star of the show? Their baked goods. Oh man, where do I even begin? The display case was overflowing with all sorts of deliciousness - flaky croissants, fluffy muffins, tarts with jewel-toned fruits. I ended up going with a coconut cake slice, and it was pure heaven. Jan 2025: Changed to 1 star. Service and internet are so bad. The cafe was so unclean with bread and crumbs strewn on the floor and chairs / table. I sat in a table that was not cleaned. They didn't clean it when they served my coffee. Since they didn't turn up to clean, I left my coffee and went to ask them to clean. But they removed my still not drink coffee and cleaned the table with stinky bad cloth. The chair too needed cleaning but that too was cleaned with the same stinky towel. Now I had to go argue with them over my coffee and cannot sit in that chair. Super bad service now because staff are over worked. Internet is very bad. Cannot decently even browse.

June 2024: 5 stars Nice cafe with plenty of seating inside in two levels with good air-conditioning. Mostly wooden chairs. A few sofas available. Outside seating watching the street is available. Ambiance in my view is great. No music though. Food (mostly western) is delicious. A bit more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for in quality, quantity, and taste. COUNT YOUR CHANGE! I had the unfortunate event of being shortchanged by the cashier (who was also the manager) while I was here. I thought it was an isolated incident, but I returned and the same thing happened AGAIN. It makes me wonder how many people are walking away from the counter before counting to make sure they were given the proper change. I won't be coming back. I tried to contact the owners who did nothing to try to stop this from happening but told me it was an isolated incident (which it wasn't since it happened to me more than once.)
