Georgetown Mansion — Attraction in George Town

I recently visited George Town Mansion, a new museum in George Town, Malaysia. The mansion is beautifully restored and furnished.

I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail in the mansion's décor. The furniture, artwork, and household objects are all authentic to the period, and they provide a vivid sense of what it would have been like to live in the mansion.

The tour guide, Jack, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He shared many interesting stories about the mansion. However, I was disappointed when he started to talk about politics and Malaysian races. I felt that these topics were inappropriate for a museum tour, and they made me feel uncomfortable.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to George Town Mansion. The mansion is a beautiful and well-maintained historical site. However, I would recommend skipping the tour if you are sensitive to discussions about...

A beautiful building reborn from the ashes! Jack, the tour guide who enthusiastically introduces the history of the building, in addition to vividly telling stories, will also patiently tell you how to take beautiful photos in every corner of the mansion. He seems to love his job very much and he takes good care of this gorgeous mansion. It is strongly recommended that you visit this secluded mansion for free with the admission ticket while visiting the famous Pinang Peranakan Mansion. On the way, you can also stop by Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay restaurant to taste delicious pastries. The highlight of my trip to Penang was a visit to the Georgetown Mansion. Besides taking in all the magnificent antique artifacts from the Malays, the most memorable aspect of the visit was the friendly and knowledgeable service of jack ong the museum manager whose lively and jovial running commentary made it an entertaining experience.

There was a photographer whose helpful suggestions gave our snapshots that extra edge… and we’re appreciative of Robin’s assistance too.
