It's awesome. It's huge, hence, tons of varieties and tasty foods that worth the money. This is the best night market in Penang in my opinion. If you're ready to check out some of the good stuffs, here's my list of recommendations:
from a stall owned by an old couple. They sell other homemade Chinese delicacies as well (e.g. 花生酥、奶黃酥-custard, etc) Bare in mind delicious and cheap so definitely worth your visit. The "salted fish" pau literally melt my taste buds on my first try. The outer layer of the pau is crispy as they stir fried it to enhance the taste, while the inner meat layer is tender- even if you're not a “salted fish” eater like me, you'd enjoy the taste too, there's no “fishy smell” in it so need not to worry a single bit!
from a stall where you'll always see a young guy taking care of. He's not that “extreme- attentive” or "full of enthusiasm" kind of seller where one'd say those welcoming words to you if you're expecting that. He's polite and nice, the cakes he's selling are one of the best cake in town (I mean it quite literally since I'm hands-down a cheese cake lover not to mention many visitations which I've paid to try other cheese cakes in different cafés and bakeries) Yes, you won't find many varieties at the stall but the ones you'd find right there taste lovely. The sweetness is just fine, in fact, quite light, so it's cool for those who don't fancy heavy seasonings; most importantly, you can definitely notice that palpable sense of freshness on your first bite- you know, there's always a difference if a cake is kept long in a fridge or whatever or of its fresh from the oven. Besides, the taste of its main ingredients (e.g. Oreo/cheese/carrot) is authentic and genuine, that's the thought that came into my mind when I'm having it. I've tried all their cakes. It's amazing and worth the price, it's quite cheap for a cheese cake in my opinion.
It's crispy on the outer layer and soft in the inner part.
Disclaimer: I love and enjoy desserts, that soft bite which a bread could offer, and sometimes fried stuff which are not too heavy. I'm cautious when it comes to my health and food intake therefore I'd love to allow myself to really indulge and enjoy those food whenever I'm visiting once in a while. Hence, I'd only give away these previous opportunities to foods that I find worthwhile. So the above list is pretty one of the down-to-earth stuff I'd recommend if you're allowing yourself a little moment to indulge in outside foods.
Also, don't forget to practice mindfulness when it comes to self love and feeling good. Take real good care of your health from my heart to all of you lovely...
Read moreI decide went here after read some review that it worth to visit and yes it is.👍 Lots of food stalls and there are kids wear, socks, sandals and mobile phone accessories along at pedestrian lot left and right side. I try the egg waffle (6myr for 5pcs), fried stall (myr14.5 for around 6pcs radish cake, 6pcs dumpling, 2 otak-otak), steam dimsum (12myr for 10pcs), Yong tau fu in car (myr6 for 8pcs), pork satay for myr3.5/pcs. Best one is steam dimsum, I quite confident saying it because even the seller eat the dimsum, I mean rarely to find someone who eat their own stuff but yet he is, either it is because he made it by himself or it is unpredictable delicious. Buy the one with plain colour more, because it taste more original. 2nd best is Yong tau fu, the chili and sauce is great. Pork satay nice but have fishy taste (amis) there are 3 stall totally selling this pork satay the looks is same.. For fried stall quite interested in the beginning because the seller keep giving everyone 1pc free to try but when selling, they sell to me 3 kind of stuff and I must pay myr14.5 and eat till bored, so this fried stuff is nice if you eat it with more friends. Egg waffle is nice too, but I think is just ordinary. There is also socks stall that selling socks use bamboo so will not have bad odor after long usage, I don't buy it but the material is thick, maybe worth to try as other...
Read moreThe biggest pasar malam at Penang, thousand of food stalls and food trucks with so many fnb choices, but overall the main product mostly same but different variant of flavour, example Taiwan crispy chicken there have 4-5 food stalls, tahu Hua and dessert 3-4 food stalls, chicken and pork satay 3 food stalls, plenty of Drinks food stalls, char kuey kak 3 food stalls. But if you search carefully you can find unique product , like Taiwan stinky tofu, Hongkong shark Fin soup, Taiwan braised pork rice, Giant fried calamary/squid, Liang tofu, Grilled sotong, Penang Asam Laksa and others. But watchout halal or not (please ask the stall first before you buy). Products and fnb areas have been divided separately, carefully ask for prices, because i buy mask for 7rm but my sister find the mask 4rm at different stalls. The lack of the area are no public toilet, no trash bin, a little bit sitting area and lots of cooking smoke, you can ask some shop owner to borrow their toilet for free , and let the stall owner help you to throw your trash. Some stalls prepare chair to sit and you only have to order their product. Mostly fnb is for take out. Altought it is outdoor area but plenty of people will go there so beware your belonging and a...
