Read moreHad a very nice 2-hour tour. It’s one of the highlights for my stay in Penang. It’s a good place to know about the story of 1st generation of Chinese immigrants in Malaysia. You could see how a Chinese immigrant built a life, family, career in malaysia and later devoted himself to support the community and country.
The house remains in hand of the Yeap family and this generation kindly decided to open the house for tourism for education purpose. The guide lady is very helpful and friendly to answer many of my questions about the owner, the local history and Malaysian culture. Helped me taking pictures also.

Featuring intricate mother-of-pearl inlaid furniture, fine embroidery pieces with various bird motifs and artifacts of the Yeap family. The higher floors tell the intimate story of a Chinese immigrant who worked his way from a humble barber business to becoming a successful businessman and banker.
