Friendship Motel — Hotel in George Town

When I came there on a rainy day around chinese new year, the old guy at the reception shouted : " fully booked" agressively, and then when I show him the booking on my phone from Hotels.com, he was a bit kinder, he grumbled about Hotels.com and then offered me a room without window without even offering a discount. I refuses because it wasn't what I had payed for, then he told me they had an other hotelandI could stay there but I had to wait for a guy with a car coming soon to drive me there, I waited for more than an hour then he drove me to the other side of the city to an hotel really crap (foto) and an other room wirhout window, I was really furious, I told then, then emailled them I wanted to cancel and get a full refund, they never replied.|As soon I found a new hotel I contacted Hotels.com, they could not reach the hotel, they promised to do their best but 3 days later they had done nothing they even made a confusion with another hotel I had booked thru them, they send me messages every 5/6 days saying they still could not reach the hotel but they keep up trying, and then 2 weeks passed and nothing more, I asked them what was going on: They said they could not reach the hotel and in this case their politic was :no refund! And generously they offered me a 10$ credit!|So on Hotels.com they can book for u a room in an hotel already fully booked, and then if the hotel do not reply at your request it can gleefully going away with the money and rent rooms that do not exist!|In the normal world, in a justice suit if a party doesn't show up at the court he will lost, the absentee is always wrong, with Hotels.com it's...

I had the chance of staying at this motel during my solo trip to Penang few months ago. The room was understandably small (single room) since this is a budget motel and there was ample space to put your luggage. There was not window and no separate air-conditioning unit||||The air-conditioned was centralized and it only opened in the evening ( 6pm until morning). This is because it is meant for backpacker who would go out during the day and only comes back in the evening for shower before going out again at night. ||||||for single room at the ground floor, you will get a common bathroom and toilet but it doesnt matter since there are few of them. During my stay, I naver have to wait to use either shower room or toilet.||||||the location of the hotel was great since it is closed to the main venue for official events in Penang (the Padang Kota Lama). there you can find famous Penang Rojak Pasembur and at the food court nearby you can find mee goreng pata (special fried mee with squid). In front of the motel, there is an eatery for Nasi Kandar merlin which is very tasty. in short, you will never get hungry. There is also an attraction next to it Penang 3D Art Trick Museum which is one of the popular attractions for tourist in Penang. But I have to remind you one thing, if your are driving, then parking can be a slight headache. We paid just a bit over £11 for one night as we just wanted somewhere to stay for the night. For the money spent I didn't expect too much from the Motel even after reading reviews about the issues with the toilet. Unluckily for us, we got Room 224 and the toilet clogged twice. The staff are quick to respond and the toilet was unclogged quite soon after we called for help. ||||Word of warning, do not pour any sugary drinks down the sink. We poured an unfinished coffee down the sink and although we washed it down with water straight after, the sink was infested with ants by the time we got back in the evening. ||||The lady at reception is nice and friendly and she explained where to go for good food. The air-con works perfectly and the bed is comfy, just don't mind the old blanket the bed is clean. You need to get the Wi-Fi password from reception but the one given to us was wrong. The connection wasn't great anyway in our room.||||All in all, it's not a terrible place to stay.
