Merlin Hotel — Hotel in George Town

The location is great since it located in the middle of Georgetown area with walking distance to few attractions and place to eat. The room is quite spacious and clean. The room necessities is provided such as soap, shampoo and towel. The wifi connection also quite good. However, one of the towel we get has hole on it, the toilet hose is leaking, and the television is not functioning. One of our room has problem with the door key as the door can't be locked as it can just easily open from outside even when the door is closed. the door supposed to be auto locked but it didn't. we did report regarding the television and door, they said they will look into it but they didn't. Moreover, this place not suitable for elderly since they had a lot stairs. One of the staff are quite friendly and even asked how was our room during check out. I hope Merlin hotel will try to improve the problems in order to welcome more...

It's a comfortable hotel. They didn't have a lift but we don't really care about that. They have water dispenser outside of the room in upper level, water heater in the shower and slippers. The tv works fine in my room but my father told me it didn't work in his (we took 2 rooms for 6 people). There are 3 plugs which was a brownie points for me. But it was a bit tricky to use them as you need to play it around when you want to use them. Once they charged, don't touch the plug. Or else 😂. They do have private parking (we don't use them as we found parking in front of the hotel ). This place is 5 mins walk to Padang Kota. Near 7-11, Subway restaurant. The bed was a lil bit on a hard side, pillows was soft. Air-cond is fine. So yeah.

The hotel location was totally difficult to find and even the entrance was just a staircase up and badly lit. I had booked a family room and the room was really bare....no drinking water and you had to go up to the 2nd floor to get the hot water for your coffee. The beds were ok but the pillows were like yucky soft! The bathroom still had hairs on the floors and the sink was wobbly! ||||It was noisy and the air conditioning was like non existent, door to the room looked like it had been kicked in and totally unsafe. Only plus point about this place was the WiFi which was like super turbo speed. ||||Would I recommend this place? Only to backpackers and youngsters who are only looking for a place to sleep in.
