C'est Magnifique! This is how I described my dinner at Two Frenchies last night. This time I got a bit wiser and reserved a table ahead of time. I ordered A LOT.
Mussels Cooked in White Wine - 😋😋😋😋😋 Really good although the mussels were a bit small. Couldn't get enough of that white wine in cream soup.
Foie Gras - 😋😋😋😋😋 This had got to be the best I ever had. It was like eating butter. Only better! It came with caramelized onions but I only cared for that piece of goose fat liver.
Escargot - 😋😋😋😋😋 The escargot itself is tasteless as we all know but it was drenched in melted butter, herbs and garlic. It was good.
Pork Iberico - 😋😋😋😋 The meat was grilled to perfection as it practically melted in my mouth. It was however a bit bland in taste but the meat texture more than made up for it.
Confit du Canard - 😋😋😋😋😋 Another winner. The meat basically fell off the bones but it was not dry at all. The roasted skin was not totally crispy so I could taste the richness and aroma of the duck fats. I have no complaints. The duck leg came in a pool of mash potatoes and yes, it was also very good. Creamy and light at the same time.
Seafood Pasta - 😋😋😋😋😋 A late addition to our dinner this came with a buttery sauce that is a bit spicy. The sauce was salty but none of us could put down our fork digging into this pasta dish.
Creme Brulee - 😋😋😋😋 A standard in any french bistro, I gotta order it each time. That layer of crusted sugar was neither too thick to be broken nor too thin to make an impression on the creme below. Perfect! Another satisfying dish.
Apple Tart - 🤮🤮🤮 Nope this was the only letdown of the night. Somehow it didn't taste like the ones I've had before when I was in France. Perhaps I do not know how to appreciate words that are neither sweet nor sourish. The whipped cream that came with it did not help.
All in all together with 3 cocktails the damage was RM584. It was worth it as everybody went away satisfied and...
Read moreUpdate: Finally got the chance to visit Two Frenchies and it was a great dining experience. Food was delicious and service was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service you're getting.
We had the French onion soup and a raclette potato dish as appetisers, folllowed by duck confit, iberico pork and a seafood pasta for mains. Taste were on point. We'd expected a larger portion for the Iberico pork, but it was a good thing that it wasn't since we were very full by the end of the meal.
Oysters (Fine de Claire) came after our mains and it was delicious. It was a long wait as the oysters are flash frozen upon harvest and imported (if I'm recalling correctly). Hence, the oysters needs to be thawed for 30++ mins before it could be shucked and served. I think the taste and texture of the oysters weren't compromised. Perhaps a little cold when served as the oyster had an icy texture. We were informed later on that it would be best to call and order the oysters an hour earlier as it takes time to thaw before serving, so do keep that in mind if you want some oysters while you're here.
Finally, dessert. We had creme brulee and that was lovely with just the right amount of sweetness. We wanted to try the éclair but that's sold out or unavailable for the day.
I'll definitely be revisiting Two Frenchies again to savour more dishes, hopefully in the near future!
I called to check that this is a pet-friendly place and a staff said yes. So good news for those who would want to bring a furkid along. Unfortunately it was fully booked for the night. :(
Definitely want to visit here on my next...
Read moreWent on a Sunday for lunch with family. Made reservation about a week in advanced. Service was prompt.
Onion soup, garlic chilli prawns and escargot were pretty good. Generous portion for the roast chicken. Can be shared between 3-4 person. Pork jowl portion was the opposite, even the sides were mini at the same price range. Wouldn't recommend the salmon ravioli. Pasta was thick and overall flavour was bland.
Highlight would be the apple tart dessert. Served fresh from the oven with a side of very light whipped cream. Flakey crust, nicely cooked apple slices with some crunch and tardiness retained. Goes really well with coffee.
[Update - 2nd visit] After some time, decided to have lunch here again for FIL bday celebration. This time it was quite a disappointing experience. Was recommended the off-the-menu lamb rack dish but it was subpar. More bones than meat. The cook was not good/even with some parts closer to the bones still being raw. Cutting of the lamb rack by the staff showed the lack of training and knowledge to serve. The cut was not clean and messy. And when the bill came, the lamb rack was a whooping RM567 before ++. Totally not worth it.
Ordered the apple tart again as the one we had last time was really good. But this time the standard dropped. Pastry not flaky, almost rubbery. The dish was not hot and didnt taste fresh. What a letdown.
Ravioli again with the skin being too thick. Obviously the feedback here are just for show.
Service was too pretentious, too surface. I cringed at the service, appalled...
