KL Gateway Mall, located near Bangsar South and Pantai Dalam, is a retail mall with direct access to the Federal Highway, Kerinchi Link, and NPE, making it convenient for travellers travelling to and from the mall. The 100-meter connection bridge connecting KL Gateway Mall to RapidKL's KL Gateway-Universiti LRT Station makes it easily accessible by public transportation. The mall is open daily, from 10 AM to 10 PM.
Due to fewer stores and activities, this shopping mall is not as well-known as other malls in Kuala Lumpur; nonetheless, the mall is not as unpleasant for me. KL Gateway Mall has a good selection of branded stores, a supermarket, healthcare, services, and delicious food and beverage options. First and foremost, the Village Grocer supermarket, which is located on the ground floor, is well renowned for its fresh and international products. Although the prices are a little more than at other supermarkets, the quality of the products should never be questioned. The Village Grocer supermarket is open at the same hours as the mall.
This KL Gateway Mall has clothing retailers such as H&M, Kinghouse Apparel, and other local brands. Eyewear, Optometry, Sportswear, Salon, Nail & Foot Spa, Lingerie, Courier, Money Changer, Fitness Gym, and many other shops and services are available at this mall. On the upper ground floor, there's a Guardian pharmacy, and on the second floor, there's MrDIY, Malaysia's popular DIY store. On the same level, there is a Daiso outlet, which is noted for selling a wide range of low-cost things at the same fixed price for all items.
What about the mall's food and beverage outlets? KFC, Burger King, The Chicken Rice Shop, Aroii Thai, Ayam Penyet Best, The Original Boat Noodle, Hot & Roll, Nelson's, Boost Juice, Gong Cha, San Francisco Coffee, Sushi, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart, and a few other local cuisine brand businesses are among the good F&B options. There aren't many dining options, but the management is doing everything they can to bring in more good F&B businesses.
This mall offers valet parking, which is available throughout the same hours as the mall. Surau for men and women are conveniently positioned on the second level, close to each other. The Nursing Room is located on the second level for parents who require privacy and space to attend to their infants. To enhance your and your baby's comfort, a diaper change area and discreet breastfeeding areas are available. This mall also offers 'Free Wi-Fi' services so that customers can stay connected while shopping and having fun, but connectivity might be difficult to come by due to crowds and technological concerns. Wheelchairs and Baby Strollers are also available at this mall.
Sometimes my husband and I will come here for leisure and acquire groceries from Village Grocer supermarket because the mall is not always packed and the staff is helpful and polite. Another reason for my visit is that my sister owns and lives in one of the KL Gateway Residence units, which is connected to the KL Gateway Mall. This KL Gateway Mall is recommended for hangouts or meetings among those who prefer privacy and a...
Read moreI feel like management doesn't do remotely anything to help the customers.
I lost an envelope containing important documents in the mall and went to the help desk to ask if they could be of any assistance in finding it. I roughly knew where it was located and it wasn't even that long ago, so I thought "oh should be easy, just look at cctv footage of the place I left it and since not that much time has passed, it couldn't have gotten that far". Then I waited. 30 minutes passes, nothing. And then 1 hour, still nothing. after 2 hours, I grew too anxious and went and asked if I could be granted permission to look at the security footage myself. The person at the desk ignored my question and told me that "they would call me". That was a week ago...
I thought I'd hear SOMETHING from them, whether that'd be them actually recovering it, not finding it, seeking more information regarding the lost item, or just anything really. Would it hurt to just receive an update?? I suspect that maybe management didn't even consider looking for it, but that's me. It would've been so much easier and quicker if I was able to look at the cctv footage, but instead, I had to wait hours, days, and even then nothing. Had I lost items that were significantly more important, like my IC or debit card, I would be frankly... livid.
So make sure that you DO NOT lose anything here.
Also, the stores in the mall were decent, I imagine it can even be a good hangout spot. There were some art installations that were cool looking like the pringle rainbow piece. It did feel quite empty and desolated at places, though perhaps it's just like that during the weekdays.
Hopefully, they will improve their attentiveness to the needs of the customers, especially when it comes to missing items. Until that happens, I will forever condemn the management of this mall to hell and back (jk...
Read moreFor Muslims if you're looking to solat at KL Gateway Mall, I suggest heading to the Surau at Kerinchi Residence instead, also known as Madrasah Ittifaqiyah Residensi Kerinchi. It is just in the next building (see the attached picture). This Surau/Musolla is spacious, exceptionally clean, and well-maintained, with a friendly and welcoming community. There’s also a playground for kids & futsal court, making it a great place for families.
Please consider giving sadaqah using the QR code I provided to help keep this beautiful space in excellent condition. I’ve been informed that this Surau is in urgent need of donations for maintenance. Without our support, it may have to close permanently. Let’s do our part and contribute generously to keep this house of worship open and thriving, Insha'Allah.

The Surau at KL Gateway Mall is difficult to find, quite small, and has poor ventilation, making it less comfortable. It is also under renovation until the 18th of August. To get to Kerinchi Residence, simply exit through the Village Grocer loading bay.
. The male surau/prayer room is located in the B2 parking lot. To get there, you can take the lift next to H&M and go down to B2. Once you exit the lift, turn right and you'll see the sign directing you to the surau, which is behind the lift.
Alternatively, you can use the elevator and head towards parking number G10; the surau is opposite it.
The condition of this surau is quite poor. It has an unpleasant smell, appears cramped like a storage room, lacks soap in the ablution area, and has poor...
