FIRST & LAST TIME VISITING THIS PLACE.
TLDR: Misleading services, poor communication, not really Muslimah-friendly, overpriced treatments, and endless waiting. Definitely not worth it. đ
MISLEADING "HEADSPA" When you hear the word headspa, you think of the well-known treatment with the circular shower system, right? Even a quick Google search shows that image. This salon advertises a âpremium headspa" but the funny thing is there is no actual headspa involved! đ What they gave me was basically shampoo, conditioner, tonic, a scalp massage, and steaming. Thatâs just a basic hair treatment, not a headspa! Extremely misleading and honestly feels like false advertising. To make it worse, when I asked about it, the staff said the ârealâ headspa is actually called Headspa Premium Plus. Then rename it properly la! Donât trick customers into paying for something that isnât what youâre advertising. The price for what I got? Absolutely not worth it. Better go to a saloon with proper focused treatment with similar price or even cheaper price!
STAFF COMMUNICATION The staff donât explain anything properly and give completely wrong information. One staff suggested I do a facial while I was waiting for my hair treatment, since I was in need of one, I was like ok. However, i was pressed for time, so I asked her how long it would take, she said TOGETHER with the headspa, and said both would only take about an hour. keyword: TOGETHER YAA. Big lie!!! I ended up stuck there for nearly 2.5 hours! During the hair treatment, the therapist massaged and washed my hair, then just left me there under steam without saying a single word. No explanation, no âYour hair is being steamed, Iâll be back in 15 minutes,â nothing. I had to remove my eye mask to realize I was alone, waiting with my hair steamed. The lack of communication made the whole experience confusing and frustrating.
NOT REALLY MUSLIMAH-FRIENDLY This salon claims to be hijab-friendly, but my experience says otherwise. After my hair treatment, they half blow-dried my hair and then told me to put on my hijab while it was still damp so I could move to another room for the facial. Thatâs a huge no-noâanyone who actually understands hijab-friendly services knows you never ask someone to cover partially dry hair. It was uncomfortable and inconsiderate.
OVERPRICED & UNDERWHELMING FACIAL Already wary from the âheadspaâ disaster, I still agreed to the facial because they said it would only take 30 minutes. Another lie, it dragged on much longer. And for RM170, it was nothing but double cleansing, a surface scrub, and a mask. No extraction, no deep cleaning, nothing. To make things worse, they had me sitting in one of those uncomfortable chairs used for hair washing with my head resting awkwardly on the sink! First time, I had a facial with a setting like this! How is that a proper facial setup? The therapist even made an unnecessary comment about my pregnancy, mistaking me for just being âchubby.â (berisi in Malay). Completely unprofessional. The only saving grace was the massage, which was nice, but still not worth the time or money.
WAY TOO MUCH WAITING Every stage of the visit involved waiting, waiting in the lounge, waiting in the room before the treatment started, waiting in between steps with no explanation. And the constant lying about timing just made it worse. Saying â30 minutesâ and then taking double or triple that isnât just poor communication, itâs dishonesty. The lies about timing add up, waste customersâ time, and make the whole experience unbearable. By the time they finished, I had already cancelled my haircut because I didnât want to waste more time. The haircut price was overpriced too, glad i didn't take it. The staff also kept saying that the haircut won't take long, like really? You think i will believe you after all the lying? đ and blowdrying the hair to make it wet again for a haircut? No thanks.
In the ene, they ask you to leave reviews immediately after your treatment ends with a promise of voucher. I declined and gave honest feedback...
Read moreExperience and service was great, the head massage during the hair wash was really good, the staff was really lovely. But the hair results and price wasnât what I had in mind.
I wanted to get curtain bangs with soft layers at the ends with brown copper balayage. Curtain bangs and soft layers to add volume to my face. Iâve seen a customer review that was posted 10 months about her not happy with her layering results, and I was a bit wary about it but decided to give this salon a shot. Unfortunately I had to agree, the layering wasnât great. Iâve had my hair layered so many times before so I recognise the technique. They not only forget to do the soft layers (which I enquired twice), it just wasnât really layered. I donât even think the back was layered. They curled my hair using a curler which was fine (which also hid the âattempted layeringâ) Most salons would just use blow dry technique to make the curls, especially with the hair style that I wanted.
It wasnât just this. Initially I wanted the hair cut and balayage. They suggested the Olaplex treatment, which I agreed and signed on the receipt (this happened before the treatment) which showed the actual cost of the Olaplex treatment. Halfway thru, they recommended Milbon as they said my hair was fine and just needs smooth (again this was before the treatment began). As I didnât know Milbon treatments and I thought the price was the same because they didnât ask me to resign the receipt (and hence I didnât know the true cost of the Milbon treatment), I agreed. It was my fault for not clarifying the price, but I think this lack of transparency with the price on their end seemed very scammy. I had the shock when I saw the overall cost as it was not what I expected. The hair treatment costed more than my hair cut and balayage combined. I could have commented but after spending 4 hours in the salonâŚ. I just wasnât bothered to at that time. However now thinking about it after consulting my friends who all agreed it was pretty bad service, I do believe I deserve a refund for the cost difference because that Milbon treatment price was not something I would agreed to if I was asked to sign the updated receipt and saw the actual cost.
Overall, experience was great but hair outcome wasnât for the insane cost that Iâve paid. I may have to go elsewhere to fix my hair.
UPDATE (02/10/24) Customer support reached out and said they have an 8 day policy of redoing hair styles if youâre not satisfy with the outcome (I didnât know about this but glad that they had this policy). So I came back the next day.
A massive shoutout to Fei Yap (senior hairstylist with 22+ years experience) and his team. They saved my hair and got exactly what Iâm after.
Fei was amazing. He understood what I wanted and fitted the style according to the nature of my hair. He was very meticulous and patient with his work, and made sure everything looked perfect. His layering and balayage skills were great (similar techniques my previous hairstylist back in Australia) So highly recommend him if you want layering or balayage!
Also they agreed to refund me the cost difference which is super great!
Ok this is the longest google review Iâve ever written so thanks for making...
Read moreI always walked past this place every time I came to Sunway 163 Mall in Mont Kiara, but Iâve never walked in to try their services. It always seemed so enticing. I could see from the front of the salon that they have professional Korean stylists. I thought to myself, âHmm⌠maybe one day Iâll try it.â
Iâve had a head massage once when I was overseas before, then one day when I passed by this place I saw a sign that said âHead Spaâ. I told my wife, âOMG honey, weâve got to try the head spa here!â
So we did. My wife and I booked the one hour head spa, which cost RM180, and we both made an appointment with a senior stylist for RM118 each.
When we came for our appointment we sat in super comfortable sofas in their lounge. The whole place looked like a relaxing garden with plants and leaves everywhere, ferns and ivy hanging from the ceiling. The place had a natural rustic feel.
Soon our turn was up and they ushered us to the back to begin the head spa session. Whoah! This place is big. It didnât seem like it from the outside. The head spa session started with brushing of the hair and light massages. After that it was a shampoo and massage treatment in another room. I thoroughly enjoyed the shampoo and massage. The shampoo they used was cooling and refreshing on the scalp. The soft piano music and warm eye mask let me imagine myself being in a faraway place. The hand massage was a pleasurable extra bonus.
When that was done I was introduced to John, the senior barber. My wife was already with her stylist in another section. I could see she was busy laughing and enjoying a happy conversation with her stylist.
John asked me what I wanted and I just said, âMake me look fresh!â. He nodded and got to work. As my chair was near a window overlooking the Main Street of Mont Kiara I kept my phone and enjoyed the view while he did my hair. I could see he was precise and professional in doing my hair.
When it was done he gave me advice on how to style my hair as well as how to do scalp treatment to treat my dry skin. I was happy with my cut as it was clean and fresh. After that they offered me coffee to enjoy while I sat in the lounge waiting for my wife to finish her haircut and I then proceeded to write this review.
I enjoyed my cappuccino more than a cappuccino I just had somewhere else in this mall before cutting my hair. I should have just came here to have my coffee instead of the other place. Itâs much cosier here.
My wife just walked out. Let me ask her what she thinks about this place.
Sheâs smiling.
She said, âI love it here. Letâs come back again!â
I smile. âYes, dear. Me too. Letâs come...
