BHC Chicken @ Sunway 163 Mall — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Better and Happier Choice (BHC) Chicken is supposedly number 1 in sales among Chicken houses in South Korea. For them to achieve this, they are doing things like getting celebrity endorser, Jun Ji Hyun of "My Love From Another Star" fame. This telenovela supposedly sparked a renewed interest in "chimaek" or chicken and beer so BHC capitalized on it. The product itself is legit for them to constantly realize top sales year on year.

BHC opened its first location in KL at 163 Retail Park. Lucky for us, this was just an elevator ride down my son's condo.

We asked our server Ate Rizza, a Filipina OCW, for recommendations. She was quick to point to their Bburinkle (powdered cheese coated) Chicken and said that if we had a good tolerance for spicy food, the Retro Hot (Spicy) Chicken was also good. Other than these, she recommended their Corn Cheese. Because of the popularity of the Bburinkle, we got a 7 piece bone-in and their Boneless versions. I loved the boneless version so much that I practically cornered most of the pieces. The sauce mixture of various chilies and Bbq sauce makes the Retro Hot phenomenal. This made me reach out to the soothing ice cold Bong Bong Green Grape Juice.

BHC Chicken at 163 Retail Park: The Best in Malaysia

I've visited several BHC Chicken outlets across Malaysia, and I can confidently say that the 163 Retail Park branch stands out as the best. The chicken here is consistently served hot, ensuring a perfectly crispy fried texture every time. This is a stark contrast to other outlets, where I've encountered soggy fries and chicken that isn't freshly fried to order.

One of the highlights at this outlet is the generous coating of Bburinkle powder on the chicken skin. Unlike other branches where the coating is often sparse, the 163 Retail Park team ensures every piece is fully and evenly coated, enhancing the flavor significantly.

Given these two key quality control factors, this outlet surpasses all others I’ve visited. Keep up the great work! I highly recommend that other BHC Chicken outlets improve their quality control, especially in maintaining the temperature of the chicken and fries and ensuring the generous application of toppings. There have been times at other locations where I've had to send my order back to the kitchen to be cooked again.

pros: the bburinkle cheese powder is soooo gooddddd!! i was iffy to try at first because was expecting a savoury cheese but it’s like a honey cheese flavour, sweet and cheesy!! if there was a branch near my house, i’d totally be buying often. chicken is perfectly cooked and food came quite quickly, too. saw another review say they were charged for tea refill but i asked for more tea and wasn’t charged, so maybe they changed the policy or the staff was feeling generous that day?

between 2 people, we shared a half chicken, cheese sticks, the skewered bburinkle ricecakes (MY FAVOURITE!!) + rice and drinks and it came to around rm62 per person. everything was very yummy and we could barely walk after so we think it was worth the price

cons: the place was superrrr crowded even on a workday at 3pm so it was loud and we had to almost shout to hear each other speak 😂 service was also subpar considering the price points (forgot our rice and had to remind them + we sat at the table waiting for quite a while before getting the menu and qr code eventhough we were led in by a staff?). overall, would definitely go again for...
