Overall: This is basically a mini zoo. Butterflies are a side attraction to the rest. On one hand nice to see some animals, on the other hand this place needs a solid clean, more information and more space for its attractions.
Main attraction: The butterfly farm 'room' was small but nice. Several species of butterfly around the room. Also some nice places to actually see where they make their chrysalis. There are gaps for butterflies to escape, so the local area is populated with butterflies. However there was very little information for curious people. Even a leaflet on which butterflies you can see would be nice.
Side attractions: Ducks, racoons, 2 kangaroos with a baby, a herd of sheep, a mighty rooster, 2 dirty white peacocks, confused meercats, gophers, a chipmunk, some kind of fox, 2 copped up bengal cats, guineapigs, a fish house, snakes, spiders and other insects... This place is more a mini-zoo than a butterfly farm. There is hand feeding for the rabbits and sheep.
Problems: (1) Info. Most pens did not even tell you what animal it was. There is no signage, no handout... An afternoon with a printer could solve all of this. (2) Activities. A 'spot the butterflies worksheet' would take a few minutes to make, be educational and keep kids engaged. (3) Space. Seeing 2 bengal cats pacing in that small cage is sad. Seeing the meerkats in a concrete cage was heartbreaking (they are burrowing animals). The kangaroo has very limited space and a lot of the large birds are so cooped that they just drag their fine plumage in the mud. Everything there needs more space. (4) Cleanliness, maintenance and staffing. The dirty, broken toilets, the animal filth everywhere, the cobwebs in the rafters, the broken screens in the butterfly house, the maze of concrete paths they have added over the years - this place needs some investment to renovate. Just a few more staff to give it a good clean would be a start. It seems that the one guy hosing rabbit poop and selling animal feed is not enough to run a zoo...
Cost: RM10 for an adult is ok. RM10 to feed some animals is also fine, but they need to re-invest in the park (not the attractions). Start by pressure washing the whole place regularly - up and down. Then take out those succulents and make a better duck /turkey...
Read morePlease don’t visit this horrible place! We ended up there as part of a guided tour without googling the place, what we should have done beforehand. Although it is called Butterfly Farm, this place unfortunately has several other animals in the poorest conditions. The butterfly house itself isn’t the worst part, although on our way round we already found several dead butterflies, which should have been a final warning about the treatment towards animals here. Coming out of the butterfly house, we were shocked to find animals such as bengal cats, a raccoon and a kangaroo. Not only were the animal’s cages in a glasshouse, so that the temperature inside was very hot and humid (note that a lot of the animals kept here are not native to Malaysia and this is therefore the wrong climate), but also the cages itself were tiny. 2 bengal cats were kept in an enclosure of maximum 9 sqm, with a concrete floor and no possibility of retreat. The raccoon had no water and the kangaroo, as well as all the other animals seemed lethargic and not even close to being healthy. Again, note that raccoons usually don’t live alone, but instead in groups, however this one was kept without any company. Several other animals such as ducks and turkeys seemed lifeless with no will to live. Guinea pigs were kept in a cage on a metal grid, desert foxes in an enclosure with just a concrete floor (note again that these animals naturally live in the desert and dig their own burrows - no possibility for these animals to do so here). Finally, snakes and water animals (fish and a turtle) were kept in very small tanks. Above all, the place seemed dirty. Anyone with just a little empathy and the slightest bit of understanding of animals, would immediately recognise the look of pain and the desire to give up of these creatures. Kept and caged in a hot and humid place, often far from their natural living environment, what they do is not live, but rather survive from day to day, some barely clinging on to life. What’s happening there is cruel, inhumane and animal abuse and should never...

we visited on our trip to Cameron highlands thinking it was a harmless butterfly park from the reviews. Immediately after walking in we realise there was much more than butterflies. Small animals such as scorpions and beetles were dead in tanks. “Water” in there tank was coloured glue like substance with the animals were then trapped in. -Cats in crates and poorly maintained structures. -Dirty floors on all the inclosures. There is clearly no zoo keeper or well fair for these animals. it only gets worse. Open encloses for raccoons and 1 meerkat put together. People grabbing the meerkat despite signs saying they bite. No precautions whatsoever. The animals are clearly in distress as they do not have the proper care. The meerkat had overgrown nails and was digging constantly at the pebbles floor that was GLUED over and not even an inch thick. the sheep pen was horrific. The sheep were starved and there was a new born lamb not even 2 days old still with its umbilical cord attached with feases (poo) around its back side. Flies all over it. Skin and bone literally. No care for any of them. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s dead now poor thing. BUTTERFLIES. this was the worst. More like butterfly graveyard. They have ripped wings and people are grabbing them from the leaves. Throwing them around. Yes throwing. We Witnessed two young boys grab them by their wings and toss them into the air. Suprise as the parents didn’t care and continued to pick them up despite clearly having a ripped wing ( the parents) disgusting behaviour and teaching your kids nothing. All of the animals were poorly treated and no one seemed to care. Not even the workers. No sign of a zoo keeper or proper care for them. Disgusting place needs to be shut down and the animals...
