TGV 1 Utama — Attraction in Petaling Jaya

To potential visitors, read this before your visit, for your own sake.

To TGV Cinemas 1Utama, this is unacceptable and genuinely dangerous. Everything started off well, friendly staff, impeccable service, quality movie screenings, plush seating, pricey but insatiably delicious snacks.

All was well until it went downhill.

Roaches, bugs creeping and crawling through the seats. I was in Hall 2 earlier today, I was sipping on my drink and had decided to uncap my drink for easy access, I held onto it most of the movie. I had finally placed it into the cup holder to focus on the movie near the end, but as the lights came on, there it was.

A cockroach sat smack dab on the lid of my cup, merrily feasting away at the droplets of my drink.

It is not only an establishment's responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction, it must also maintain a strict code to cleanliness and hygiene. This isn't acceptable, especially not in dark areas where if a bug were to climb into one's drink or snack, a customer would be unable to notice such a small creature and accidentally consume the bug or consume contaminated delights they had paid a dreadfully high amount of money for.

Cockroaches carry disease, bacteria and viruses. It poses a significant concern to food safety as could endanger a customer's health. God knows if there's one cockroach, there's thousands.

I watched Dune here at the IMAX hall. Wow, what a phenomenal experience. The visuals were breathtaking, as was the sound design. SO GOOD. 👍

The screen height is about 40–43 feet (not sure about the size) and the great thing is that it fills up the entire screen, unlike Sunway velocity. TGV's IMAX ratio is 1:90:1, which is an IMAX Digital Xenon projection (2K Resolution). Some may call that LieMax.😂

Picture quality is very good, but it's not as sharp as Onyx's screen quality, which uses 4K projection and LED screen, so obviously onyx better lah. I saw some dirt on the screen. I hope they fix that. Most of the theaters have this issue.

The sound system was great; you could feel the rumbles. At some point, I noticed that the projector vibrated along with the sound 😂. It was pretty loud tho. Better than Atmos. (*Hans Zimmer's background score was stunning 💯).

Seat arrangements are OK. Legroom was not good. It's a little too narrow for me.Only the H row has plenty of legroom. Mine was G row. The viewing angle is great.

Yes, it is immersive, but it depends on the movie choice. I'll suggest watching movies that were shot on IMAX; only that can justify the TRUE IMAX experience.

Otherwise, everything is great. The staff were warm and friendly. The cinema looks good as well.

I just had the most amazing experience at TGV 1 Utama and I have to share it because the staffs’ friendly, patience, dedication and genuine willingness in providing assistance really amazed me! It begins with I accidentally left my precious Ne Zha collectible game card in the imax hall, after realizing, I went back immediately to seek for assistance. Even though it was pretty late, everyone from the counter staff to the entrance team and even the cleaners went out of their way to help me. They went all their way to finding the collectible game card for me, they didn’t just do their job, they were really there to help. They listened attentively to me, the entrance team guided me, and the cleaners even checked the screening room thoroughly. Fortunately, we found it with they helping hands of the crew! I was relieved and touched by how supportive and dedicated everyone was. They did their best to provide customers with excellent experience beyond expectation, they teamed up together like that just to make sure customers leaves happily, which is deemed as valuable characteristic to consumers, quite rare to be seen in the commercial settings can be said.
