Kyochon is one of the largest Korean fried-chicken chain in Korea, but in Malaysia, is handily the largest Korean fried-chicken brand. The first outlet in 1Utama, opened in January 2014 and since then, multiple outlets have mushroomed in various cities, but mainly in KL, PJ, Putrajaya, Nilai, Pahang, Shah Alam, Klang, Puchong and Johore. In 2015, it opened in Pavilion KL, cited as the largest Kyochon outlet in the world (Wikipedia)! The outlet in 1U, located in a corner, on the Ground floor of the New Wing is near the exit to the bus terminal station. It has an open-air cheery concept, with comfortable seating capable of taking a crowd of 50 easily. Kyochon is not a “fast-food” joint, but rather a full-serviced restaurant, with the food prepared only after it is ordered. No surprise then, there is a short waiting time before the food is served. In any case, a small complementary plate of preserved daikon condiment is given. This is really good stuff, crunchy, sweet, sour and flavorful all at the same time. The menu is divided into various sections; signature, meat free (for vegetarians), combo, ala-carte, sides, appetizers and beverages. Since it is renowned for its chicken, we shall concentrate on its fried chicken offerings. The fried chicken is further sub-divided according to portions; wingette and drumlette, drumsticks, half or whole chicken, boneless chicken bites and then the exciting part? Making your choice of 7 flavors; honey garlic, shinhwa, soy garlic, red pepper, honey, kyochon mix, salsal series. So far, I have tried the honey garlis, soy garlic, honey and kyochon mix. The fried chicken, regardless of what parts you choose (depending on what favors you) is consistent in taste, juicy, soft. The minute you bite into the chicken, you will not that the flavors has imbued into the flesh and it is bursting with flavors as you chew the rather tender chicken (they only use 30-35 days old chicken to maintain the juicy tenderness of the meat). The chicken is already tasty by itself but if you like, they also provide plate of sauce which is slightly sourish. The service at this outlet is very good. Polite, attentive and obliging. This would be my place-to-go whenever I fancy fried...
Read moreThis restaurant is always packed especially during meal times so try to go off peak hours if you do not want to wait in line and get some rather shoddy service. They seriously need to improve their service. We tried the red pepper and soy garlic. Supposedly these are the popular ones. Both type of chicken wings tasted very good, crispy and hot enough to eat when served which is important. The spicy one was reasonably spicy and not overly crazy spicy like the ones at K-Fry. I enjoyed both flavour very much. For senior citizens above 55, free korean tea worth rm7/-. Not bad. Taste wise it deserve a 4 star but service was 1 star. A couple waiters purposely avoided eye contact or looking up despite us calling out to them and waving our hands. Almost imposssible to get their attention just to get some cutleries that were not served together with the chicken. Imagine eating salad with hands ?!! Very unprofessional and lazy attitude. Make the experience very unpleasant. Our tea in the pot was served at cooler than room temperature. No way can brew the teabag and it was impossible to get the waiters' attention. We have to bring the pot to the counter. Mind you, it was at 9.30pm, off peak hours somemore. Another time we were there at 11am (restaurant supposedly opens at 10am) and placed our orders. We waited until 12pm, one whole hour of waiting and our food was not served. The rest of the customers were not served either. Finally when we inquired about the delay, we were told the chicken is being defrosted and they have only two staff in the kitchen. They should at least inform customer on any delay and give us an expected time the food is to be served but it was not done. A few customers including my family, cancelled our order and walked out. Very...
Read morevery rude staff, no one come to greet us then we have to find our own table and call the server because everyone is just busy doing nothing.
the food experience was actually pleasant until it come to payment.
I ask the staff whether I can use the tng voucher or not in advance and the staff told me yes I can then handover the counter to the staff that took my order. first thing when she came to take my order there's a moment where she legitely stares at me then rolled her eyes. even when I ask the simplest question do you have a glove or not. other outlet sometimes offered me a glove that's y I ask. your staff scan my voucher with card terminal which is weird and she did it twice. I don't wanna told and teach her since it was her job, she was supposed to be TRAINED how to scan a voucher. then she give me a stare at me looking like I'm the stupid one and told me I cannot use the voucher. I'm getting annoyed at one point and told her to ask another staff (the one that say I can use the voucher) she watch ye the male staff scan my voucher then she goes out after whispering something to another female coworker looking all embarrassed and smiling without saying sorry for wasting my time.
you should've train your staff before letting them do the job and train them how to serve a customer. I paid ya for the voucher, it's not free and I also paid for the balance. the staff shouldn't be acting like I ask them...
