Putien • 1 Utama — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

I am your regular customer since you guys opened your 1st outlet in One Utama. Putien is always my preferred Chinese restaurant when I dine out with families and clients.

However, we got a very unpleasant and disappointed dining experience today.

(1) Waited for 20 minutes on the table without food and drinks. I was the 2nd table and the restaurant was not even busy at 11:07am.

(2) Checked with the waitresses multiple times for the drinks and food we ordered. The manager came to us apologized but within few seconds into the conversation, he raised his voice and asked us to go to mixed rice restaurant if we couldn't wait! And he said their dish is being cook one dish at a time, not a mixed rice restaurant. That was very rude and totally out of line! I almost wanted to walk away because never expected being treated this way. No need to mentioned other details... :(

(3) Few minutes later, a server bought out 5 plates of Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon to the dining area. It was the 1st dish they bought out for the customers. I didn't know what happen in the kitchen but seems like they cooked this all together including the tables that that arrived much later then us.

The taste of the Bee Hoon was totally off. :( Not sure what had happened in t he kitchen... I cancelled all other dishes we ordered.

Shredded Pork with Sesame Bun (RM17.20) Putien Cabbage Rice (RM26.60)

Verdict: My expectations were very high as Putien is a Michelin One-Starred Restaurant. However, the food was subpar and tasted nothing like what I expected. The cabbage rice was burnt, dry and tasted more like claypot rice from a hawker stall. It was overpriced and the portion was really little. The description in the menu stated that it’s a traditional home style hearty fried rice with cabbage, braised meat, baby shrimps, mushrooms, clams and scallops BUT in reality there were barely any ingredients in it!! Only a few cabbage leaves and diced mushrooms. I managed to trace a tiny piece of minced meat and that’s basically it. No seafood or braised meat like what was stated in the menu 😤 Extremely misleading and disappointing! Thankfully the pillowy, golden fried sesame bun filled with stir-fried shredded lean pork for savoury burst of flavours in every bite was a delight 🐷❤️ I will give them a benefit of doubt as I dined alone that day and couldn’t order much of their signatures. First time trying out Putien with the family. it’s a birthday celebration for my brother. When we arrived at the hostess area, PH, immediately reacts and brought us into our designated area. We were also offered a more spacious dining table before we had the chance to sit down. Options were given to customers, so customers gets to dine in comfortably. Qian Yee, thn brought the menu to us to have a look, just right on time before we raise our hand trying to call for a waiter to order, she’s already there ready to serve us. Through out our meal, i can said that we requested for quite a few common things like Tissue papers and refilling our tea. without any hesitation, Qian Yee and Li Yong, is always there to help us out to clear out the dirty dishes, getting the table clean so we can get good picture at the end of our meals. As said earlier on, it was a birthday celebration, the team surprised us by singing birthday song and even have team to play along with the Harmonica, totally excellent. Superb service.
