Visiting the Seafood Market – Is It Worth It?
Well, it really depends on what you want to get out of it. Consider the time, cost, energy, and effort involved. You’ll need to choose your seafood carefully – there’s a variety of fish and other sea animals available, and you can compare prices with other shops there.
Be cautious – the floor can be slippery, so watch your step. It's also helpful to bring your own container, as they usually provide only plastic bags. That might be fine, but it's not ideal for the journey back home.
Try to arrive before noon, as it tends to get quite hot after that. The market is open until 5pm, and the crowd isn’t too large around midday, which is good if you prefer not to compete with others for the freshest catch.
One word of caution: make sure the vendors really clean your fish. We had an experience where a seller claimed to clean it, but didn’t follow through. That was disappointing.
Price-wise, the seafood is definitely fresher and more affordable, considering the time and effort you spend to get there. Still, we personally choose to buy from our regular supplier – they deliver cleaned and packed seafood. It costs more and isn’t as fresh, but we prefer it since we don’t have to do any extra cleaning at home.
That said, it’s still a place you should visit at least once. Experience it for yourself and decide what works...
Read moreA pretty well-run local wet market that starts operations in the wee hours of the morning till late afternoon. Though the market has various sections selling different types of meats, vegetables, and fruits, it is dominated by the fresh seafood section where large crowds come from all over the area to buy their seafood such as fish, squids, clams, shellfish, and crabs. Besides being super fresh and having a wide selection and abundance of choices, the prices here are a lot cheaper compared to most markets in the city which is why I always purchase my bi-weekly seafood supply here. Prawns and shrimps here are definitely fresher and more reasonably priced compared to elsewhere. The drive here is leisurely and getting the freshest seafood at the best possible price makes the trip here worthwhile and enjoyable. Highly recommended to give this market a try for your fresh...

It was not crowded when we arrived (aroumd 12 noon) Walked around to see what's going on.
Stopped at this one kiosk selling seafood with a friendly welcome. Decided to get crabs, prawns n udang galah. It's a family run kiosk. However, squids ran out. They brought us to another kiosk run by their sister. We bought giant squids from there.
The price for all was reasonably fair than your local wet market as they were large n fresh. I wud strongly recommend seafood lovers to come n get their stuff here. It's worth the trip (went after vax...
