I’ve never felt this drained, disappointed and exhausted from an escape room and have never thought of walking out of 1 right from the first room until I did Dancing.
The rooms are unnecessarily dark and the only source of light we’re given is a flickering candle. There are lots of ways to create horror and suspense, suddenly bringing a dimly/lit room to darkness can amplify that effect. The lack of light served no purpose except to slow participants and create fear, but as mentioned, the latter can be done through other methods without affecting the puzzle solving experience. This entire “escape room” was more of a 4D horror/suspense experience than an escape room.
One of the puzzle was clearly broken and when one staff came in to try to test it with another “key”, it still didn’t work and the staff clearly didn’t communicate because another staff still kept asking us over the walkie talkie if we’ve done “abc” while the other staff just left after realising that the puzzle was indeed not working.
There is insufficient context clues/information provided to independently solve the puzzles and the only way to solve some of them is by communicating with the staff by walkie talkie. Also, they kept asking us questions about our progress instead of being a “helpline” if we needed help which was honestly quite disruptive, but yet quite necessary at some points since there was literally no other way to solve some of the puzzles without their “directions”.
One of the puzzles which was clearly based on a manual trigger after performing a series of actions also required it to be completed by an individual of a specific gender. I don’t understand the rationale behind this cause someone’s gender shouldn’t determine whether they’re able to complete the puzzle or not. Also, it’s 2024, way to get yourself cancelled.
The “true story” behind what happened (as per the game master who supposedly only “told” us/led us towards conclusions of what we already know) was also unclear from the room itself and wasn’t apparent from the information we had received throughout the experience.
Also, I’m not sure what the whole point of us “exploring” the place was for. Are we trying to “break a curse”? Are we trying to “find out the truth” cause we’re the police or something? They told us we’re curious neighbours trying to figure out what happened..? Also, is the dancer a child as per the synopsis or actually a young adult/adult as per the experience/videos? The lack of clear motives and consistency made it a pain. Not sure if it’s related to language translation concerns whatsoever.
Nonetheless, I think the NPC deserves credit for her performance and she honestly did a great job! Also, the decor for the rooms to make it “look like” an “actual” such location was honestly quite well done.
To book the slot, they required us to pay a 50RM deposit but the mechanism to pay by credit card was not working, so the only options were limited to using a Malaysian bank account/doing a bank transfer/using apps like Grab but only Grab Malaysia would work. It was honestly very unnecessarily painful and could’ve easily been avoided with a proper credit card payment mechanism in place.
Walking in and walking out of MAZE was honestly a bit terrifying for me with the way they shouted their greetings in an attempted unison which felt slightly…cult like. The way in which they use excessive emojis over WhatsApp (especially the ✨ emoji), even in messages like “we have no received it as the transaction is failed ☺️✨” was very strange. Also, before you go up the stairs, they use a “super scanner” which I believe is supposed to resemble a metal detector to “scan” every individual, but not sure what for. I’m not sure how to explain why these made me feel so uncomfortable.
I had a terrible time and don’t understand why anyone would ever do this.
EDIT to add more info: They ask for a lot of personal information like your national identification number etc. They say it’s to give you discounts/recommendations etc, but using names/emails would...

The rooms were a bit small but it added to the atmosphere. The automation with magnets and hydraulics was very cool. Things would move and light up by themselves so it added to the immersion. One of the highlights was a mechanism activated by infrared light, so it only worked when you got close.
The crew kept giving us unsolicited hints and straight up answers to the challenges. We did not signal them. We were only stuck for a minute or two before they starting talking to us on the walkie talkies.
The first room's clue was a bit obscure. There was no rhyme or reason and definitely was not logical.
Near the end of the second room, there was a box that required a specific method to activate. It was again illogical although not exactly random. There were markings on the box that suggested one way but it turned out to be an entirely different method.
The key to solving the last room was borderline impossible. Literally nothing throughout the adventure could have led you to solve it by yourself. The only way we could have finished is if we asked the crew. But of course, they told us how to do it before we could even call them. This last room is exactly the kind of thing that led me to stop playing escape rooms. The solution is entirely out of left field and simply unthinkable in the context of a 1 hour time limit.
The crew was friendly and welcoming. They managed to convey the story but they could also work on their English a little bit. There are rooms solely in Chinese with NPCs as well.
When the mechanics were not dismally mind-bending, it was very fun. But the constant walkie talkie chatter and the realization that the crew might be rushing you out for the next group leaves a bitter taste. Either way, RM88 is way too steep a price. I won't be coming back to this escape room any more.
P.S. the toilet is out the back side of the building and you need to...

The games run very smooth for the first few rooms. But went we reach the last room, The coordinator keep telling us to be quite when searching for the clues and the explanation is not very clear even tho we left 5 mins in the rooms.
After the game finish, after we do some researchs, we found that, we are the only one that the staffs not allowed us to finish the games. All our friends or online post mentioned that, even the time finish, the staff will still let's us know what is happening and what the clue that we not manage to find.
No one inform us that all of us must in the last room to play the games, and no one inform us that, we have to do that thing so that we can find that clues.
The part that made us very disappointed is, there is a female staff suddenly come to us and said that our time is off, ask us to put back everything and go out from the room. She was talking in a very bad attitude. Keep asking us to put down the thing which looks like we going to steal their items🙄 and keep ask us to be quite because other rooms still playing.
She looks like wanna to chase us out. Ask us to take our bag very fast, ask us to take picture in a fast way too.
We are okey with the games, but her attitude is the main reason why we are unsatisfied with this escape room.
