Stayed here back in April 2025 for my anniversary. Me and my wife stayed in the Deluxe Plus room at RM 230/night including breakfast, booked via Agoda. All in all, it was just excellent for the price.

In the beginning, while researching, there were at least 3 lodging I seriously considered besides Clio Hotel: Sunway Pyramid Hotel, Sunway Resort Hotel and Sunway Resort Suites. Yes to add more to the confusion, all four properties are one way or another owned by Sunway. If you research via google at a glance, even Gemini will get them confused!

But long story short, Sunway Resort Hotel is considered the most premium: at almost RM 500/night the room is bigger and they have their own family friendly swimming pool. While Sunway Pyramid Hotel and Clio Hotel is at the opposite ends of the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall (Clio Hotel being nearest to the Sunway Lagoon), Sunway Resort Suites shared the same building as the Sunway Pyramid Hotel but is reserved for residential purposes. Which in practical terms, means it's converted to Airbnb by their owners for all intents and purposes.

I ultimately chose Clio Hotel for the following reasons: it's nearest to the Sunway Lagoon entrance, the rooms are rather new (they did major renovations in 2016) and the breakfast are excellent. There was a 4th major reason which is complimentary parking but apparently I was informed there are no more complimentary parking provided - despite me calling 1 week earlier and was informed otherwise! Fortunately due to the miscommunication I was provided free parking by the management - but consider my case an exception. The usual rate is RM 15/entry. Read that: per entry for one day.

The room feels very premium despite mine was actually the entry level ones. You can watch youtube videos to see it. Trust me, it is much better when you arrived there. Plus the wifi is very quick. The major highlight for me is the breakfast. It is excellent, nay heavenly! There was English, Malay, and Arab-themed breakfast. Me and my wife are not heavy eater but we spend 2 hours to try each dishes at out stomach paces of course.

On additional note, if you stay in any Sunway-owned hotels (except the Airbnb operated Resort Suites) you can go in and out of the Sunway Lagoon theme park (tickets to be bought separate of course) freely which is a not a small perk. Read my Sunway Lagoon review for...

4 Star hotel with a 5 Star hotel service. I came back to this hotel like I said I would in my previous review and the service was just as exceptional as my previous visit. Warm greetings upon arrival, nice and cozy room with a comfortable bed. Karen, the Front desk manager, helped me with the new year countdown arrangments and helped me book a great table with a great view of the New Year at Sunway Resort and Spa lobby lounge as she advised me that the streets will be too rowdy as I had my 6 year old daughter with me. My daughter enjoyed the countdown party there. All the fun less the worry that she will get trampled on and she could dance freely. Breakfast at this hotel has a wide variety to cater to everyone's needs. From your normal eggs station, bread, pastries etc. all the way to indian and arab breakfast spreads. For those who need to check out earlyto catch a flight, they even prepare a coffee machine and some light pastries near the lift for you to grab and go. Rarely do you find such service in a 4 star hotel or some other 5 star hotels do not even offer this. Service at breakfast is also exceptional regardless how busy they are. Ravi from their wait staff team was exceptional with his warm smile and attentiveness to customers' table. He even remembered my name and coffee preference throughout my 5 days stay here and I wad lucky to be places in his section each time I went for breakfast.

With all the save the world, use less straws going on, instead of taking advantage and say "our hotel will like to participate in saving the world and thus we will not provide anymore straws" like many establishments and hotels do, instead they still participate in the green movement but still provide straws made of a biodegradable sugarcane fibre. Extra cost to them to paticipate in this movement but not at the expense of comfort to their customers. Those with kids will appreciate this as without straws, it can be a hassle for kids with oily fingers holding a glass and mishaps will happen.

Keep this up Sunway CLIO team and I will see you the next time I...

Incredible lack of apitude to meet the minimum.

Currently in quarantine at Sunway Clio - they had all the time to clean and prep the place for a human being to stay locked in for 7 days, yet my bedding was dirty and the study desk provided had food crumbs left from previous.

Today is day 2 - the hotel has an incredibly straightforward job to deliver food to a chair beside the door 4 times a day, but they are failing that and blaming the guests (me) for it.

My partner is in a separate room and her breakfast did not arrive until over an hour of when they were supposed to deliver it.

My afternoon tea was not delivered at all and the receptionist simply remarked that the window for afternoon tea is over despite me not even getting a door ring for it.

Dinner is supposed to have been served by 6:30pm, but I had to follow up as it hasn't arrived by 8pm. Again, the receptionist casually blaming me for failing to retrieve the food from near the door.

I am giving it 2 stars only because they managed to book rooms for us last minute - at least the management is good at taking your money.

Reconsider your stay here: Bedding and room has remains of previous traveller. Food is bad Food will be delivered late if at all. You will be blamed for no/late meal delivery. The so called "high-speed" is actually capped at 10mbps (as per their marketing, unbelievably slow in 2022)

Despite the strange times we live in - and also understanding that there are processes and difficulties the travellers might not be aware of... How do you screw up feeding hamsters in a cage?

There is no tracking of your guest to do, there is no confirming locations, we do not go anywhere. You can call to confirm, you can email, WhatsApp, knock...

I enjoyed my penthouse room 😎. It was dark enough for a comfortable sleep, except that the wardrobe sensor light didn’t turn off on the second and third nights. For the room, they should install a two-way master switch — it’s inconvenient to have just one beside the bed on the window side. I loved that I couldn’t hear any activity from neighbouring rooms. The inclusive breakfast on the 8th floor was a nice start to the day. The pool, though small, was pleasant after peak hours. I didn’t have time to try the gym. The in-room dining menu was good, but it would be great if they added more interesting options — perhaps a Gordon Ramsay pizza. The crab linguine was delicious, and I enjoyed the tiramisu served in a glass. The RM$58 for one shot of whiskey was 😋. However, I didn’t touch their truffle French fries — they were not tasty and had been overheated. Larger fries with a light sprinkle of fresh parsley would have been much better. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and was able to sleep well.
