The hotel gains many 5-star reviews for very good reasons such as they have great facilities, plenty of quality manpower and offer an excellent location if you are going to Sunway Lagoon or conferences nearby. You can have direct access from hotel's Level 1 to the theme park with ticket purchase available at the bar. Best part is that re-entry is allowed for ticketed hotel guests. Facilities like the water playground at Level 5 is fun and has a lovely view. The main pool in itself is beautiful and relaxing. View from higher floors is nice and enticing. Outdoor zones are well ventilated with the cool coconut-tree-looking Helifans. Gym is nice and spacious. The Grand Deluxe room is cozy and comfy. Sadly, I have to drop 1 (almost 2) star/s because the children-friendly experience has VERY MUCH room for improvement. The management really needs to up the game to cater to the Kids and not just depend on their existing facilities to gain family guests. We have been to other hotels' Kids Clubs in Bali, Phuket and Singapore, hence the Wonderland Kids Club is really underwhelming and in fact quite disappointing. Anyway, we saw published activities for each day such as terrarium making (which sounded so fun). But when we enquired, their morning had a hosting for a school workshop and there are only paid activities such as coastal/rock painting or batik making available in the afternoon. We felt very under prioritised as hotel guests. Of all days, external activities have to be scheduled on a theme park closure day? Seriously? And please don't publish activites when they are not being prepared. There is a nice huge kitchen studio but I have no idea what they do with it. The media room had seminar-style tables and chairs facing a gaming TV that's not even switched on. Those tables placement are potential hazards for young children. The toys selection is pathetic and not even basic for such a lovely space. Toys are placed on adult eye level and out of reach for children. Are you telling parents you dun want the kids to mess up the toys? Books are placed way up high, not even reachable for a 7-year old too. There are colour pencils but no paper supplies and not even offered. There is a baby cot, but placed underneath a blasting aircon. The ballpit slide playground and parents lounge are possibly the redeeming qualities of the kids club. In addition, we had buffet breakfast twice during our stay. First time was good with kids dining zone "functioning". The second time, there were missing children plates, bowls and cups and the ENTIRE bottom plate-retrieving zone was filled with porcelain plates. WOW! I had to request and was only given 1 set of plate, bowl and cutleries. After we spoke to the manager, staff took out like 10 pieces of WET plastic plates and bowls and placed on the tail end of the kids buffet line. I even saw one bowl with some yogurt on it. Another WOW. I rinsed my kids bowl with hot water just to be sure... To be honest, my dining experience was spoilt for the morning. Such operational mistakes and slips are non excusable. Highly recommend the Gordon Ramsey Bar & Grill for breakfast instead. Their staff service and food are...
Read moreRecently booked a night there, as I have heard good things about their pool and also kids club.
Overall experience: Disappointing & not worth the money & not a 5 star service. Other 5 star hotels are much better and there isn’t so many people with better service
When checking in, they informed me kids club is open from 9am -7pm. We went to the kids club at 6pm and they mentioned it was already closed. We were disappointed on that. During check in, we were informed socks are needed to be able to play in kids club, I then highlighted and mention we did not bring any. We were told socks was sold at the kids club and did not bother to purchase one at the nearby mall.
The next day we woke up early, so that I could bring my one year old to the kids club, the person managing the counter told me if I do not have any socks, my one year old could not play in the ball pit. I understand that is the policy, I then mention you do sell socks here , they mention the socks are too big for my one year old. Honestly, I wasn’t too happy that this issue couldn’t be solved. If this was mentioned earlier we could have bought a pair of socks from the nearby mall previously. My point is I paid so much so that we could enjoy the facilities but I felt it wasn’t informed properly on what we needed or could have prepared. All your staff do is say so sorry for the inconvenience, I would have expected a solution for us to enjoy the facility. Understand you would need socks, but at least you could direct me or give me a solution, where we could have enjoyed the facilities
Bought the package with breakfast included. There is a choice of choosing between the buffet breakfast or Gordon Ramsay’s breakfast which is an American set menu. I would think, the set menu would be a better option now. We chose the buffet menu, was seated at the kids area, there are many flies just flying around the tables and chairs. If there isn’t anyone at the table looking at the food, the flies would have stick to the food and plate. Appreciate if you could improve on your hygiene, told the staff there we wanted to change seats, as there are many flies. They just say sure, ignoring my comments on flies
The buffet food was so-so only, many varieties, but taste wise and quality not there for a 5 star. Coffee was also horrible, watery even with double shot. Also, during breakfast time it’s like some carnival of people. This hotel is suitable for team buildings, but as a luxury 5 star hotel, nope. You will be surprised, tons of people at the buffet hall
There are much better 5 star hotels, with lesser people, better service, nicer food and better hygiene upkeep.
No complaints on the room hygiene, room is all good and location wise is pretty good next to a mall which is walkable and very convenient. Swimming pool is good and nice, but other hotels have more or less the same thing

Read moreThis is my first time writing such a long review for a hotel. My family has always been a loyal supporter of Sunway Group, frequenting Sunway Pyramid, Sunway University, Sunway Lagoon, and Sunway Medical Centre, as we live in the neighborhood.
However, this is my first stay at Sunway Resort, and I must say I am extremely disappointed with the overall service. I booked a 3D2N stay in a Waterventure Terrace Room for the long holiday. Considering the premium room rate, my expectations were far from met—and this is only after my first night.
Upon check-in, despite having clearly requested a baby cot through Sunway Moments during booking, the reception informed me that no such remark was recorded. They mentioned I was “lucky” to get one as it was the second last available. Additionally, although I had double-checked that my booking covered 3 adults (including a domestic helper) and 3 children with no additional charges, I was told at the counter there would be a surcharge for the extra adult’s breakfast. I accepted this and paid, but the whole process was inefficient, taking 10–15 minutes.
When we arrived at the room, the minibar was completely empty. I had to call to request both the minibar items and the baby cot TWICE and it took almost two hours for these to be delivered.
We then visited the Premium Leisure Lounge, which was complimentary with our room type. Unfortunately, the service was far below expectations. When we entered, none of the staff acknowledged us, despite the lounge being relatively empty. When my son accidentally dropped some biscuit, the staff simply watched while I cleaned it up. It was only after I inquired that I was told drinks were ordered through staff, as there was no signage or menu. The afternoon tea spread was minimal and not aligned with what was promoted on social media.
Wonderland Explorers (Kids Club) was another letdown. Compared to Parkroyal’s kids club, this one felt underwhelming. No coloring materials were proactively offered, and when we asked, we were only given a single sheet of paper. The colored pencils provided were in poor condition—broken and heavily worn out.
During the evening cocktail session, the lounge was quite crowded. Our family could not fit comfortably at the assigned table, so I had to move chairs myself. When I requested a high chair, instead of assisting, the staff pointed me to where it was, leaving my husband to carry it back. This level of service does not reflect what one would expect from a 5-star resort.
This has been only my first night, but already my expectations for the rest of the stay are low. I regret signing up for Sunway Moments membership, which I had previously recommended to friends. Based on this experience, I would now advise...
