Sunway Pyramid Hotel — Hotel in Subang Jaya

Simply one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I booked a 3-night stay at the deluxe plus room with park view with the Sunway Lagoon hotel and made my payment upfront. So I arrived at around 10pm to check in but was told by the front desk that I would stay at the Sunway Pyramid Hotel despite my booking with them, without giving me any reasons. Since it was already 10pm and I was already tired after travelling all day, I didn’t think much of it and followed the concierge to get to the other hotel. But when I was on the way to Sunway pyramid hotel, a thought struck me as it didn’t feel right, so I asked the concierge if they oversold the room at Sunway lagoon hotel, and expectedly he said all their rooms were occupied as the participants from all around the world were there to take part in a bowling tournament held in Selangor. When I got to my room in Sunway Pyramid hotel, I found that the door couldn’t be locked, only the security door guard could be put on, and the room was much smaller than the one in Sunway lagoon hotel, which was also without a work space. I needed a desk to work on my laptop so I asked the front desk to send someone over to check on the door and see if they could get me the room with a proper work space. The security supervisor named Remy (or something similar) came and said he might be able to fix the door but whether I could get a room with a desk and chair was not his call and he had to ask his duty manager.||||Here’s the best part, when the security supervisor rang the duty manager on his mobile and requested for a new room with work desk to be assigned for me, the duty manager straight up said in Malay, something like ‘Dia tu sengaja, itu alasannya, alasan bah, alasan tu’. (It basically meant he thought I was complaining about the faulty door lock on purpose and that it was an excuse to get a new room). I believe he said that because he thought I didn’t understand Malay and I couldn’t hear him. He went on to comment how he wouldn’t assign me another room and disparaging me, making it sound like I was a beggar and didn’t pay for the room, everything hw said made me feel uncomfortable. He even talked to me on the phone to negotiate so that I would take the dodgy room, or course, in a very condescending and passive aggressive way. Well so may I ask you, what was your ‘alasan’ for sending me to Sunway pyramid hotel when I paid to stay at Sunway Lagoon hotel at the first place then? Was it ‘sengaja’? If you told me you had oversold the rooms prior to my trip, I would have cancelled the booking and looked somewhere else, you don’t wait until the guests arrive on the spot just to realise the room they book isn’t available and force them to take a downgraded replacement because they don’t have a choice. The biggest problem was you couldn’t provide a room with this standard and instead send me a portable one and made inappropriate remarks as if I wanted to take an advantage of the hotel, I certainly didn’t pay for this kind of room and service to be frank. I was only asking for the room I paid for. Can you imagine I needed to fit a portable desk and chair into the already the tiny room and squeeze around every time I had to move across the room? The room wasn’t even clean, with unidentified black stains and hair on the bed sheets, coming along with the stinky toilet smelling urine. As a solo traveller, I literally felt threatened and uneasy for all the time I spent in that hotel thinking that the narky duty manager would attack me instigated by the incident.||||The audacity of calling this hospitality and yourself a 4-star hotel is just absurd joke. Just check out their reviews on Google, I was not the first nor the last guest to be sent to a different hotel without valid reasons or notice given by the Sunway lagoon hotel. We weren’t even given a choice to say no to this. This is literally a rip off – just imagine you paid for a premium economy class ticket for extra comfort and space and the airline decided to send you to the economy coach because of what? They oversold their tickets? And when you ask for the space you were entitled to enjoy based on your premium economy ticket they say you are asking for trouble. I booked my room at the Sunway lagoon hotel because I wanted the space and comfort, I would have booked to stay at the Sunway pyramid hotel at the first place had I wanted to stay there but I hadn’t. Why would you think it’s ok to pass the guests around as you wish? Can you see how ridiculous this is?||||Based on the inappropriate comments from the duty manager for my basic request, I am worried that the hotel or the duty manager would harass me since they have my personal details as how he would react to this detailed review and disclosure of his ill manner. My first worst stay was in Dorsett Hartamas, and Sunway Pyramid hotel is the second WORST. Service, rooms, amenities, cleanliness, parking, all was WORST.

NO SWIMMING POOL, NO GYM, EVEN THE MIST EXPENSIVE ROOMS DOESN'T HAVE BATH TUB.

Service: Check in, check-out, parking validation was INCREDIBLY SLOW. They have 9-10 counters but only open 2 counters. "Other staffs went out for break" they said. THEN COORDINATE YOUR MANPOWER BETTER. How could you open only 2 counters?!

Staff: Rude, unfriendly & not helpful. Not being racist, but all your indian staff were very rude yea. As if they did not receive enough education is Hospitality & inadequate training given. Why? Here is my story;

My family checked in earlier, and I arrived at the hotel around 6 pm. My fam wasn't in the hotel, they went out to Sunway Mall so I had to ask for extra access card to enter the room.

I waited 15 minutes in the queue, together with those who were just checking-in. I tried to come forward, cause I wanted a card only, which wouldn't take long.

But one indian lady just went straight to my face "IM CHECKING IN THE ROOM FOR THIS OTHER CUSTOMER YEAH RIGHT NOW". So I stepped to the back and waited.

When I finally get to the counter and tell them I need extra card, the same lady said "OH ITU JE?!" then looked at her colleague. what do you mean? you think my request is a petty request huh? I still paid RM1000 for the room, how can you treat me like a poor minority?

Amenities & Facilities: Can't believe you have no Swimming Pool and No Gym. We asked to be transferred to a larger room, so that at least we could have a bath tub but we were informed ALL ROOMS IN SUNWAY PYRAMID HOTEL GOT NO BATHTUB.

The staff also informed we can use the pool in Sunway Lagoon hotel, but thats located a few hundred metres away🤣🙂 What a jokeee

Parking is RM15 per day, and from the start they forced me to pay in advance for 2-3 days parking, according to my stay record. Lol what if tomorrow I drive another car and not the same car? Then I still need to pay for RM45 (3days) for a car that I will only park for 1 night. RIDICULOUS!

The coffee bar they provide consist of incredibly cheap instant coffee and very limited sachets.

The lobby is very noisy, very bright. The ambience is not cozy at all. Everything just feels like a mess, with the view of 6-7 empty counters as they only open 2 counters at a time💀

Even Sunway Putra Hotel that is waaaay cheaper provides us with so much better experience ya.

I have been to other hotels around KL, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. There are many cheaper hotels with better service & better in everything.

If you guys want to stay around Bandar Sunway, go for Sunway Resort. Not worth it at all in...

This trip is meant as a birthday treat for my gal so that she can enjoy her sunway lagoon outing during her birthday with her friends. As we drove here, there's a flat parking rate of RM15 per entry. As the trip was meant to celebrate her birthday, we were surprised and thankful to see there's a special lane/access/link to Sunway Lagoon from the resort.It was just awesome and not to mention the friendly staff, Cik Aina. Do note this lane/access/link closed at 7pm. Since we came early, we kept our bags with the concierge while checking in. As we checked in around 9am ish, we were informed that we can get the room early at 12pm. Hooray..What makes it better was the call from the Sunway Resort to inform that the room was ready at 12pm ish. I went to collect the key card around 1pm and has to remind the concierge to sent the bags to the room. It came a bit later when I was out dining at Sunway Pyramid. Mind you, the resort was packed due to Sunway College students graduation ceremony. So the delayed bag into the room was justified. Witnessed the hospitable concierge trying to help us when he saw us quite lost while trying to direct one of the parents to the resort to collect their children. The parent found us. Excellent.For dining we ate at Gordon Ramsay for dinner and Sunset Terrace for breakfast. We tried the cod fish plus the sides of mac & cheese at the Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill for dinner as it was already late ie after 9pm. I did not opt for dining@ room service knowing that my daughter will dozed off when she got the bed :-) . It was delish. The breakfast at Sunway Terrace was also good with many choices not only for adults but also a special section for the kids, too. There's chocolate drink and also Malaysia's Teh Tarik (taste just nice,like it hot ).Went to the gym, it has many exercise machines, spacious and also has energy bar, fruits and water provided for. I enjoyed doing the routines programme on the threadmill while looking at the pool. I also tried the abdominal /muscular gym machine. I am still feeling the muscular impact at my arms 😂. A well done exercise indeed.Our room was overlooking the Sunway Lagoon view. The bed was so inviting and the pillows with both medium hard and soft pillow was comfortable. Good for sleeping. The room comes with usb plugs and the typical 3 pin plug at each side of the bed which I find very helpful. At least, both of us do not need to fight which side of bed we want to sleep in.In all, we have a great stay here. Not forgetting Ms Ginny that assisted to approve my request for late check-out.
