I'd like to begin to say that after the renovation this cinema is by far the cleanest and the most well presented cinema there is in Malta, that being said this cinema does have its caveats.
While the seating and placement of the chairs are great causing no visual obstacles in the way of the screen, it does not excuse the fact that if you pay extra to sit in the sofa seats you are going to be in a very uncomfortable experience with the horrible viewing angle that you are presented with. The sofa seat is directly beneath the screen making you look upwards for the best part of 2 hours causing neck breaking pain. If you would want a more premium experience there are little private cinemas that you could rent out, it contains the same type of sofa seat but at a much more reasonable viewing angle.
Then comes the physical location of the cinema itself, in my experience it does not matter but for some the experience might be a bit frustrating to have to walk 10-15 minutes just to get to the cinema. This can't necessarily be improved but by improving the quality of the cinema, the walk for some people would become worth it.
One of the most important things about a cinema is its food. While having a sweet shop at the entrance to complex the cinema does not offer the best in terms of quality, the popcorn is nothing special, little to no salt and no butter, on the other hand with the nachos I did like the fact the nacho comes right out of the packet and salsa is also right out of the jar meaning that it is not stored in some old container, making the nacho as fresh as you can make them yourself.
Overall I do like going to this cinema, it can improve and I think that the staff and management want it to improve as they have put a lot of money into the cinema. It can become more tailored towards a premium experience or it can appeal more to the masses, it would only depend on where they want to go with the cinema.
If you want a quick experience and you live in the area and don't want to go to other options, I'd say go for it. But if you want the best cinema watching experience there are better...
Read moreI’m a cinephile and usually watch every new movie in theatres. I’ve experienced all the theatres in Malta, and compared to the other two, this one stands out for its excellent sound system and screen clarity. However, the screen is smaller than the others.
The seating was comfortable even the €10 seats had enough leg space. The food was also nice, especially the nachos with dip. But the cleanliness could be improved: the cup holder still had leftover popcorn in it, and the floor wasn’t properly cleaned.
Still, the sound experience was so good that I could overlook those issues. What really disappointed me, however, was one staff member’s behavior. While I was ordering food, he asked me if I had ganja or marijuana. I found this question very inappropriate and offensive do I look like a drug dealer to you? This is not the way to treat a paying customer who has taken time out of a busy day to enjoy a film. His attitude came across as rude and unprofessional, which unfortunately spoiled my overall experience.
Apart from that, the theatre itself was great, but I hope management looks into staff behaviour and...
Read moreso an update from my years old 2 star review, so covid19 was a godsend for this cinema, after a much needed renovation, the place is now modern, the seats are now eco leather rather than fabric and is comfy, we opted for the normal seats did not see the need for the premium though, and the sofas(beds) are at the bottom of the screen how ever, the drinks are served in plastic bottles that can be found cheaper at a nearby bar, Air Conditioning was off for the movie with summer heat, i literally got up to my back and trousers soaked in sweat, and almost collapsed on the floor, friends had to help, this is in part that i suffer from Gillian bare syndrome and this was a night out with the guys after 5 months of recovery so i was looking for a good night out the heat and the place is advertised as fully air-conditioned, toilets are clean at least.
How ever still has room for improvement though. most of it is small stuff that goes a long way that can turn this from a 3 star balanced review to a...
