Well first off the listing was labeled as the pent house suite and as soon as we came into the establishment we noticed the kitchen counters had bad water damage, paint was flaking off the wall, they had a lot of tacky wall paper , so it’s easy to say it wasn’t very penthouse like, especially for the money. After spending time getting settled in we tried to use the jacuzzi tub and we realized the hot water wasn’t working and the electric to the tub wasn’t hooked up either—we found that out when we tried to turn on the jets and they wouldn’t come on.
When we tried to contact the host about these issues she kept saying “I have to talk to the owner and get back to you”—taking HOURS to get back to us. They tried to tell us to “just shower in a different unit” which wasn’t a penthouse unit and didn’t have any of the accommodations we booked this place for initially. We had to find a new hotel last minute due to their negligence and inability to solve the problem in a timely manner. THEN they had the nerve to give us a hard time about a refund! I spent most of my Christmas vacation arguing with these people about a refund. It was absolutely unacceptable and atrocious customer service. They ruined our time their.

We are seniors and had to cancel when the United States State Department and the Centers for Disease Control advised Americans not to travel because of the Coronavirus. We contacted the representative on Feb. 29, 2020 and asked if we could change the date to November because of the pandemic. We were 5 days late in cancelling our reservation for March 26, 2020 to get the free cancellation. We were not asking for a refund, but a change of date. They said “No” and on March 1, 2020, charged our credit card the full amount of our stay. They finally got back to us on March 16 to advise that they were shut down until the end of March when Malta stopped all flights from Italy into their country, which was long before our date of arrival. They still would not offer a refund, but now they would accept a change of date to later in the year. Because of the way we were treated, we no longer have any desire to visit Malta. Pros:
The area is lovely, it is near the fountains, Barrakka park and Harbour which makes getting to a lot of attractions very easy. The AC is good. The bath is good.
Cons:
Washing machine near the room for us which was loud We had to check in late as the room was not cleaned. You can hear neighbouring apartments. Perhaps the worst thing for me, the fact that there is a tower clock opposite the building which rings every 15-30 minutes. Nightlife outside means if you have children or are thinking about sleeping before 12am you will find it difficult. They were sloppy in that they didn't leave us tea when they said they would, and there was no iron either which they promised, we had to ask and wait for one. Big blue light on the AC which makes it a bit difficult to sleep. For a supposed 4 star place, the bed really isn't that comfortable.
