A truly exceptional and faultless meal, and excellent service. We’d walked by the restaurant a couple of times and had made a note to visit - it looks incredibly inviting with its red doors and shutters, and informative chalk boards on the street, and the 38.50-euro per person tasting menu of Maltese- and Mediterranean-inspired dishes seemed very good value (there is no ‘a la carte’ menu). There is also the option for wine pairing with your meal, with 6 quality Maltese wines (an extra €32.50pp). The tasting menu for the day is dependent on what the team find fresh at the market. We thoroughly enjoyed everything that was served, there were no ‘outlandish’ dishes (and they check if you have allergies beforehand), and the knowledgeable staff talk you through the ingredients as they serve each dish, so you’re fully aware of what you’re eating. We started with some really soft white bread and high-quality olive oil, and a beautiful pumpkin soup which was silky smooth and delicately spiced. Absolutely glorious and very moreish (it would make the perfect winter warmer in Britain). We were then brought a range of small dishes which included slices of sausage, roasted peppers and aubergines, a rabbit pate, Maltese Arjoli dip (sundried tomatoes, olives, garlic and herb dip), kalamata olives, and a very mild & creamy goats cheese which I enjoyed (usually I detest goats cheese). Following that came a Parmigiana melanzane (layered aubergine, courgette and parmesan); mussels in a white wine, onion and garlic sauce; a ‘lasagne’ type thing with provolone cheese and pancetta, sprinkled on top with crushed pistachios, and finally local rabbit leg with creamy mash potato. I cannot emphasis quite how beautiful and stunning and perfect every dish was. This is most definitely the best ‘meal’ we’ve had during our 10-night stay in Malta. We decided to order two half bottles of wine - a 2021 Chardonnay from the Meridiana Wine Estate (Malta), and a barrel-fermented Antonin Chardonnay harvested from the Ramla Valley estate in Gozo (produced by Marsovin). Both superb and delicious with our food. Puddings can be ordered afterwards and aren’t part of the tasting menu. During our visit, the dessert options were Creme brûlée, Tiramisù or a Continental cheese board - though we were much too stuffed for anything else!

We went with a group of 6 while on vacation in Malta. What a great overall experience this restaurant was. The entrance is as unassuming as possible as you see just the sign and go through the door into what feels like someone’s house. Very quiet and romantic and rustic and charming. The menu is simple, one price (45 Euros) for 7 courses of what they found fresh that day. We had one person who doesn’t eat fish of any kind and we had said that in advance so that person got a few non-fish items when the rest of us had fish. Every item was wonderful as it built through the foods of Malta in starters, soups, vegetables, fish, game, traditional meats and desert. Every course was done perfectly, though a few in our party were a bit shy about rabbit or pork cheeks. We also all added the wine courses that were matched to the food for an additional 40 Euros per person. Again, excellent in every way. We learned so much about the food and wine of the country, and enjoyed ourselves at the same time. A great experience and a very fair price. The one issue that kept it from being 5 star to us was the pacing. There was only one person serving and explaining the wines, so as the restaurant filled, she was not able to promptly move from course to course, which then also slowed the food. It ended up being almost 4 hours when it should have been closer to 3. With two wine experts, this restaurant would be absolute perfection. It does deserve its Michelin star in my opinion for the quality and creativity.

What a wonderful, wonderful restaurant! Run by an extremely warm, welcoming family this place was a delight from start to finish. We had the tasting menu (I mean, why wouldn't you?) and every course was something different, and something delicious. The pistachio lasagne was a favourite (more than a hint of lemon in it, it was a tasty surprise), and the finale of Maltese rabbit was cooked to perfection, succulent, moist and full of flavour. The wine list is extensive (as you'd expect) but not expensive (unless you want to go there) - there are plenty of wallet friendly choices, including several 1/2 bottles if you don't want to go the full whack. There was a 2018 Bolgheri which I really fancied, but as Mrs W doesn't like red I settled for a 1/2 bottle of Syrah, which was very good. The whole ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing, cost and welcoming - it really is an excellent place to enjoy a many course, take your time meal. We booked in advance, and the restaurant was fully booked on the night. We were sat next to a lovely couple from California, so people coming from far and wide for this one! Make sure you book in advance if you don't want to miss out. Not sure we'll return to Malta soon (love Malta, but too many places to see and do!), but if we do this place will be a mustdo repeat for us.

Wow! This place is stunning! They only do one thing - a taster menu. 5 courses for 35 Euro at lunch time, 7 courses for 45 Euro in the evening (you'll thank me for the pricing info in a few years!). This means there is no choice to speak of in terms of what you eat, that said, the staff were very keen to understand any allergies or preferences we had and to work around them. OK, got all that boring detail out of the way. We were there for the evening and so had 7 courses. We also choose to have the 7 paired wines to complement (additional 40 Euro). Every course was delicious and an absolute delight and the chosen wines were interesting and delicious too. The staff took the time on a busy evening service to carefully explain the food and wine to us. The place itself is a bit off the beaten tourist trail but not massively so. The restaurant was tastefully and quirkily decorated - for example none of the plates matched, which was stylish but if I'd done it would look horrid. Our dinner took around three hours but at no time did we feel rushed. If you are in Valetta definitely give this place a go, but book ahead. All in all it wasn't cheap, but sometimes a blowout dinner is exactly what the doctor ordered!

On November 23, following the backpacker's guide recommendations, my wife, my 3-year-old boy and I decided to try this restaurant with its renowned cuisine. Unfortunately we will not have had the opportunity. it’s 2:30 p.m., the restaurant is almost empty and they serve until 4 p.m. The reception from the hostess is uncertain, she tells us that they only offer tasting menus which suits us very well and we are asked to wait for the boss. When he arrived, he told us that he could not accept us with a child...what a disappointment. Despite our insistence, explaining that we are even used to visiting gourmet restaurants with our child and that he knows how to sit at the table very well, the boss doesn't want to know anything and shows us the way out. However, several tables, away from the small clientele on site, are available after lunch time. Totally unacceptable, especially not being indicated in the guide, nor on their face book page, nor on their website. What is the next step ? Discrimination by skin color, body size, etc.? An address to avoid if we do not want to condone such actions, there are many other quality restaurants on the island of Malta renowned for their warm welcome.

The restaurant features a tasting menu of (mostly?) local Maltese cuisine. If you want to taste a series of foods, this is a great idea. You get a little bit of everything. If you want your own dish, don't bother. Execution of the food is excellent and the wine selection is pretty good (I'm no expert!). I liked that the meal was not overly heavy and we didn't feel bloated and like beached whales afterwards. We tried a Maltese wine and really enjoyed it with the meal. The service was a bit hit and miss where some of the servers really seemed to know what was happening and had good recommendations and explanations of the food/drink while others were probably tasked with simply bringing you the food/drink. In terms of pricing, I would say it was decent and worth what we paid. They are also reasonably accommodating to any specific allergies/dislikes etc. I wouldn't say this restaurant is particularly accessible to get in/around, but much of the city can pose a challenge in this regard. Location is good and just hidden from the main central streets.
