It's yet another hot day on Gozo, and in more ways than one, the Café Royal, in its central Victoria location, is like a rush of fresh air. From day one about a week ago, and since, Phillip and crew has created a space where I find myself returning to day after day. Though people come and go in relentless waves through the morning and afternoon, the service is upstanding and bright -- and the coffee will have you wired and ready to take the hills and winding alleys of Victoria. The space itself is extremely cozy and rustic contemporary, and you are consistently reminded of a time before ours, with framed photos and memorabilia dating back to the 40's and 50's (and before). Read moreTerrible experience, would never recommend anyone eat at this café. The orange juice was warm, the ham and cheese on Maltese bread had 1 slice of highly processed square cut ham and 1 slice of highly processed cheese slice (plastic cheese) and just to top it off the bread was not fresh. Surely guys for the price you charge for a sandwich you could at least have real cheese, fresh bread and decent ham. The burger my husband had was no better- a processed meat patty thrown on a bread roll with a few chips...wow. And the worst....when I commented on the food being terrible, no apology, no question as to what was wrong in fact a care...
