This place is more like a jail than a vacation house with psychopathic owners following you around and controlling every step. Tiny rooms, no hot water, dirty toilets, cold water barely running from the shower , no common area. My neighbor left me some food and the owner when she saw it rushed inside the room and demanded that I give it all to her. She motivated it that everything in the hostel belongs to her! Even when I gave them all the food she kept stalking me around the hostel screaming something in Spanish with a heavy Argentinian accent that nobody could understand. She even went after me when I was taking a shower and I had no idea what she wanted ! She went inside my room and was messing with my personal stuff on my bed and just would not leave !Then her husband came and they both started venting out negative feelings . When I tried to protect my borders from this invasion they asked me to leave the hostel. I stayed only 3 nights and in front of my eyes they kicked 2 very nice hard working volunteers whom they previously treated literally like slaves. When I left the hostel the owners falsely reported my no- show to booking.com. so I would not be able to publish a review. I am sure this is their common practice to avoid bad reviews. Terrible annoying disrespectful people , stay away from this jailhouse if you don't want to ruin...
Read moreItze is a very quaint hostel with only very few rooms. We were in a 4-bed dorm and it was almost too intimate and small which meant we didn’t want to spend much time in there. The main kitchen/living space has no air conditioning therefore we didn’t feel we could relax there either. There are no big locks to put bags in but we did feel safe so we had no problems, there was however a small lock which we used for valuables which was great. The Air conditioning in the room was amazing which really made a difference.||The beds were SO uncomfortable, the worst we have stayed in to be honest.||Our main issue was the bathroom, the absence of aircon mixed with the heat meant that it constantly smelt. The loos were faulty (loo seat broken, didn’t flush properly) and did not have locks and we’re not clean. Furthermore, toilet paper must be put in the bin not down the loo (this is everywhere in Mexico) but the bins were not covered so often you could see feaces which was unpleasant.||Nonetheless the breakfast that they provided was good and the staff are very helpful! ||For the price I think there are better options...
Read moreWe stayed at the hostel for just 1 night and it was above expectations for my first time experiencing a hostel. The girl who checked us in (Cami?) was very sweet. She gave us towels to use during our time here. The room we stayed in was clean, had an AC unit, and had ample area for us to store our luggage. The bathrooms weren’t anything special but clean. On the smaller side, but I didn’t expect much more for a community bathroom. There was someone who made us coffee and served us a simple but filling breakfast (toast, avocado, fruit, butter, ham). The area was very close to Hidalgo St (where all the markets and restaurants are). The beach was super close! I felt very safe here as well. Would highly recommend if you’re traveling solo or...
