I was surprised to find a Mediterranean restaurant in Isla de Mujeres, Mexico, but we did. My wife is super picky and vegetarian, so finding restaurants is difficult. Mediterranean is always my go to as they usually feature vegetarian friendly menu items such as falafel, babaganush, hummus and vegetable dishes.
If you don't pay attention, you will pass Olivia. Inside is nice with both outside and inside seating, chill music, and a little incense burning adding a nice aroma. The staff was super-friendly and attentive. I never caught the dude's name, but our waiter, that had ear plugs, was prompt and courteous. He gave us great, friendly service.
We ordered the Falafel and Sabich bowls that were delicious and accompanied by plenty of Tzatziki and homemade pita bread. It was delicious. I finished it off with a double espresso.
The point where Olivia really went above and beyond was when it was time to pay. They only accept cash, and we did not have enough cash on us thinking we could pay by card . They were willing to let us go to an ATM to fetch the cash, but thankfully another client there allowed us to Zelle them, and they furnished us with the cash to pay. I only wish I had more to tip the staff. I expressed my dismay that I did not have much of a tip, and the staff was still super cool. I am going to reach out to them.
Excellent service and delicious meals are my memories of Olivia. Just make sure to bring...
Read moreExcellent Mediterranean restaurant located right off Hidalgo. The menu is a very eclectic mix, of various dishes, from the Mediterranean region.
The portions are large, and the food is very fresh. The prices are excellent. for the quality and portion size, the dishes are.
The restaurant has a front area and a beautiful garden area outback. I highly recommend reservations, as it is always crowded.
We enjoy sharing foods, so this was perfect for us. We shared the Greek Tapas Platter, which was huge. It came with olives, feta cheese, tzatziki, roasted eggplant spread, grilled peppers, a large loaf of parmesean bread, which was to die for. We also split the shepard's salad. It was also a large portion of a salad, consisting of, cucumbers, red onion, olives, tomatoes, and a good amount of feta cheese, in a delicious refreshing dressing.
It was the perfect meal for a hot night. There was so much food, we even had leftovers, for lunch the next day.
The servers were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.
It is cash only.
I highly recommend Olivia's, and we will definitely be returning. A touch of the Mediterranean......

I will be dreaming about the chicken with olives and Moroccan style fish for a long time.
This is an amazing Mediterranean restaurant on Isla Mujeres run by a couple of nice Israelis.
The restaurant has 2 seatings, 6:30 and 8:30, so be sure to make a reservation if you want to eat here during the busy season.
In the back of the restaurant is their beautiful garden where we dined, you feel like you are in your own little world back there.
And then the food...WOW. The appetizers we ordered (hummus and tzatziki) came with delicious bread and pita and made the restaurant trip worthwhile alone. But then the entrees...
The chicken with olives was braised so well that the chicken literally fell off the bones. Fortunately, it was sitting on a bed of couscous which sopped all the good flavor up. The same can be said for the Moroccan style fish.
I’m sure everything else is good here but we are going back again and I want...
